wonderful community of more than 48,000
members on Instagram (@ triptijoshi).  I’ve also
authored the book Ultimate Career Planner.

In this guide, you will learn the 6 strategies to

make your resume impactful and get shortlisted
for your next interview
Step 1

RESUME LENGTH
Employers spend an average of 6 to 10 seconds examining resumes, so
it's crucial that you concentrate on the key areas relevant to the job role.
Stu ng resume with every skill, experience, or talent won't get you
shortlisted.

As per a survey, 47.7% companies prefer one page resume speci cally
for the freshers. Also, Resume Go conducted a 3-week simulation
recruitment to understand what works for mid and executive level. In
this 20,000 one page and two pages resumes were given to a pool of
482 recruiters, hiring managers and C suite executives. In total 7712
resumes got shortlisted out of which 5372 where two pages resume.
Therefore
For freshers and less experienced: use one page resume
For mid and executive level: use two pages resume
Step 2

SEPARATE SKILL SECTION

The rst section which the recruiter pays attention to in your resume is
the skill section.
They check this to know if you have relevant skills and only then go
through the rest of your resume.

Thus you have to make it easy for them by having a separate skills and
core competencies section with relevant skills aligned to the job
position.
Step 3

CRISP BULLET POINTS

Every day, recruiters review hundreds of resumes. Reading  paragraphs
can be daunting and they won't invest that time and effort. Writing clear
bullet points will make it easier for them to read quickly.

By highlighting the critical experiences and talents in form of bullet

points, you'll be able to instantly grab their attention.
Additionally, your resume will appear more organized and professional.
Step 4

ACTION VERBS
Start the bullet points with strong action verbs to make it impactful. It
helps the recruiter envision you carrying out the task (i.e. picture you
doing the task) and thus ampli es your experience or skills
Examples:

Executed
Organized
Created
Launched
Reviewed
Generated
Step 5

INCLUDE KEYWORDS
Keywords are speci c skills, attributes or qualities recruiters and hiring
managers are looking for.
It's crucial to include keywords to rank highly, get through the ATS, and
be noticed.
Step 6

RESULTS OVER TASK

Don't limit your resume to just daily responsibilities and summaries of
tasks. A resume that is results-oriented will always win.
Therefore, state the outcomes of completing the tasks and give them a
number. By adding gures, percentages, time saved, sales, etc., you can
quantify them. Example:

Resolved process bottleneck that boosted coding e ciency by

35%.
