Auction news

Land auction is a major success

JOHN Amos and Co witnessed a new high in the agricultural land market at their Auction at the Luctonians Sports Club on July 7. 83.81 acres of land at Ashford Carbonell had attracted a great deal of interest with an estimated 20+ potential buyers attending the Auction keen to bid on this useful block of land. A guide price of 600,000 was quickly passed and after spirited bidding in the room, the land passed the 900,000 price mark and eventually settled at 928,000 (11,072 per acre) and was purchased by a local farming family. Whilst smaller parcels have exceeded this kind of value, this was certainly believed to be a record for larger blocks of land. After the sale, Auctioneer for the evening, Mr. John Amos said, Whilst a strong price was fully expected due to the amount of interest, its always surprising to break the 11,000 per acre barrier, but the shortage of land for sale coupled with stronger commodity prices has led to a strong buying contingent mainly from the farming community. There is no doubt other quality blocks of land would be keenly sought after. A number of potential buyers had commented to the Auctioneer both before and after the sale how pleased they were to see quality blocks of land taken to Auction to allow open competition between interested parties. If you are interested in buying or selling blocks of land contact John Amos & Co on 01568 610007. Other land lots sold on the night included 4.6 acres of equestrian land at Risbury which sold for 6 2 , 0 0 0 (13,478 per acre) and 2.82 acres of industrial land at Presteigne sold for 75,000 (26,595 per acre).
