What is GEEK.Me?
GEEK.Me is a one-day summit focused around the topics of New Media, Tech, Broadband, and Entrepreneurship.This spectacular day will feature a panel of experts, showcases and tutorials of the latest in app technology, a live webcast, a tweetcast, digital photo opportunities, a digital town hall, and a networking meetup facilitated by those that are passionate about ensuring that minorities and women in particular, embrace, understand and utilize these interests to the fullest! We aim to eliminate the negative usage of the word Geek, instead focusing on its core meaning: To be a die-hard enthusiast. GEEK.Me occurs during the 2011 MMTC ATC Conference, July 21-22 in Washington, DC and the 2011 NAACP National Convention in Los Angeles, California, July 23-28 .

Why the MMTC Access to Capital Conference?


This is the place to be if you're an entrepreneur or an established media, telecom, or broadband rm seeking deals and nancing. Why the NAACP National Convention?


The National Association for Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is active in all 50 states with a current active membership of more than 250,000.The NAACP has over 300 college chapters, 500 youth council members and 1,700 adult branches with overseas branches in Germany, Italy, Korea and Japan. The NAACP understands the importance of minority inclusion in technology. Utilizing technology for productivity, job opportunity and empowerment have been strong themes of President Obamas term, and the NAACP have been integral in enforcing these tenets., especially in Civil Rights and Social Justice. This years National Convention takes place in Los Angeles, California from July 23-28. The annual NAACP National Conference is regarded as the event of the year for those engaged in civil rights advocacy and totes over 5,000 members each year. This years conference theme Leading a NationalDialogue on Civil Rights Advocacy will fuel such discussions at Geek.Me on How social media and technology have influenced and can influence Civil Rights and our Digital Town Hall which will focus on How we can help to even the playing field, helping minorities break the technology intimidation factor and create enterprise.
