WHAT MAKES ME A FILIPINO

Attitude wise Filipinos are extremely known for their virtue of
pakikipagkapwatao. We make companionship unique to ourselves because we as
Filipinos value friendship more than our own personal interest; we tend to value
friendship a lot considering that they are the ones we shared most of ourselves that
even we keep hidden from our own families with that in mind we then formulate a trait
also uniquely known to us which is “utang na loob”. Utang na loob is an act of gratitude
and generosity and it is also a debt that you will forever pay and to think of it simply it is
not to be abused in a certain way but to express your sincere gratefulness to the people
who were there for you at times of need and that mostly equates to the people we
consider friends.

Filipinos are also family oriented individuals, it is seen in not all but almost all
of us seconded with proof the of our goals in life which is to bring back all the sacrifices
our parents made for us and make them live the life they strived for us to have. That is
how Filipinos value family accompanied with our hard working and caring behavior
when it comes to our passion in our work. That is the reason why Filipino workers are
demanded in other countries because they can see the compassion, love, and care
Filipinos put into their work. Also with our hospitable manner we are known to other
countries as optimistic and heart-warming individuals. We tend to our visitors and only
show them the best of our own selves and the warmth of our home showing an act of
friendship and praise.

Filipinos are also considered to be God fearing individuals because of how

much we devote ourselves to our faith even going to the circumstances where we say
“bahala na” which is to entrust everything to the Lord whether it is about something
important or about something that you know you cannot fix that is why we call on to our
God and beg for his pardon. Aside from that we have something unique to us Filipinos
and that is the “bayanihan” which I can say calls the part of us Filipinos to serve our own
fellow countrymen with the help of each other in order to reach a common goals and
that it for me sparks our essence of patriotism because not only are we helping our
fellow countrymen we are also showing how much we love and care for each other as
kapwa Filipinos.

There are plenty aside from these traits that I mentioned that distinguishes
Filipinos from other countries but with all of these in mind I assure you that you can be a
Filipino as long as you are proud of who you are and show everyone the burning love
and passion that you can give to our country maybe only a little bit for now but there will
be plenty of room for progress in the many years to come.
