METHOD STATEMENT FOR POLYURETHENE INJECTION TO CRACKS/

LEAKING SPOTS/ CONSTRUCTION JOINT

All leaking spots/ construction joint/ crack lines in the concrete shall be injected with polyurethane
resin incorporates with an electric pump which delivers and proportions the PU resin accurately
and able to achieve pressure of up to 3000 psi. The polyurethane resin recommended for this
purpose is NCL SW-PUV, which form rubberise/semi-rigid sealing (normal PU form foam sealing
which become brittle after react with water) once react with water that provide permanent sealing
of crack line/ leaking spot/ construction joint.

The works sequence shall be as follows:

a. Inspection and demarcation with SIOW/RE shall be carried out prior to perform the PU
injection.

c. Drill 10mm dia. injection holes along of the crack/ construction joint/ spot at 45 degree
angle to the structure. Drilled hole shall be intersecting the crack/ construction joint/
spot’s midway.

d. The distance of the drilled holes to each other is approx. 150mm~200mm centre to centre
along the crack/ construction joint. The diagonal drilled holes depth shall penetrate in
100mm~150mm (depend on structure’s thickness).

e. Install injection packers (10mm diameter x 60mm length) in the holes and tighten.

f. By using high pressure single-line injection pump, pump in PU material, NCL SW-PUV
into drilled hole.

g. Keep pumping, watch for material flow and water appear at the surface near the next
packer. When PU resin appears at next packer move to the next packer and continue to
inject.

h. The injection packers can be removed when NCL SW-PUV has become semi rigid. Holes
can be filled and made good using Sika Grout 215.

i. Clean and make good the crack/ construction joint/ spot.
