Transportation
Concentration:
Proposed Title of the Influence of Road Lighting on Issues of Vehicular Traffic Safety
Study: at Night in Dipaculao, Aurora
Brief Background of
the Study: Having insufficient illumination on the road is one of the
primary reasons why driving at night is unsafe. Due to the
increased mobility of automobiles, accidents caused by a lack of
light have become more incidental and unpredictable.
Following a comprehensive investigation by the Danish Road
Directorate, it was discovered that the number of pedestrians
involved in accidents increased by 2.7 times on city streets and
by 7.4 times on national roads at night.
Road safety is dependent upon a number of variables,
including the quantity and quality of road safety measures. Road
lighting is one of the most effective techniques for reducing
nighttime accidents because it compensates for the impaired
visual detection of dangers that occurs after dark.

Objectives of the
Study: The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of
road lighting on issues of vehicle traffic safety.
Specific to Dipaculao, the purpose of this study is to
evaluate the correlations between the presence of illumination
and the frequency and severity of accidents on different classes
of roads in the municipality.  Finally, the findings of this study
will be used to design solutions that will reduce the hazard to all
road users during the hours of darkness.
Methodology:
This study will use correlational study design to
investigate the relationship of road illumination presence to the
vehicular traffic accidents.
The researcher will work with Local Authorities in
Dipaculao, Aurora and will make use the local road accident
database, which provides a record of all vehicle accidents
attended by the Police and which involve personal injury.
The gathered data will be studied and correlated with
lighting systems in use.

Area of Road Concrete Technology
Concentration:
Proposed Title of the Feasibility of Recycled Concrete as an Alternative Coarse
Study: Aggregate for Road Concrete Mixture: Durability and Cost
Analysis
Brief Background of
the Study: Along with a corresponding increase in concrete
production, the demand for natural aggregates is rising day by
day as a result of rapid urbanization and expansion in the
construction industry. The production of natural aggregates
extracted from the ground causes environmental damage. Aside
from that, a lot of waste concrete is produced during the
construction. Old structures that no longer serve a purpose are
being demolished and the disposal of the demolition waste
created is becoming a significant issue.
One of the solution for this serious problem is finding a
way to utilized those construction waste. The widespread
depletion of natural resources for natural aggregate extraction, as
well as the massive buildup of construction and demolition
waste, prompted the quest for a feasible solution for sustainable
construction waste usage. Crushing CDW and generating natural
aggregate-sized particles for use as a substitute for natural
aggregate in a concrete mix has been identified as the most
practical and sustainable method for utilizing the material.
Recycling concrete aggregates from building and demolition
wastes helps to protect natural aggregate supplies, decrease
landfill demand, and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Objectives of the
The study aims to investigate whether recycled concrete
Study: aggregates can be used as an alternative for natural coarse
aggregates in road concrete mixture.
Specifically, the goal of this study is to measure the
strength relationship between recycled concrete volume in
concrete and its flexural strength as well as the cost of the recycle
aggregate concrete mixture. Furthermore, the significant
difference in flexural strength between concrete with recycled
concrete and concrete with gravel as coarse aggregate will be
investigated in this study. Finally, this study will compare the
durability of the recycled concrete mixture to that of standard
concrete strength for road construction.

Methodology:
Experimental design will be the implemented method in
this study and this will involve two variables namely Recycled
Concrete Aggregates (RCA) and the Natural Coarse
Aggregates(NCA). Four sets of different concrete mixture will be
examined. The first set of mixtures is concrete mixture using
Natural Coarse Aggregates, whereas the other three sets used
recycled concrete aggregates to replace 50%, 75%, and 100% of
the natural coarse aggregates.
The durability of each mixture was tested using
Compression Test Machine with Flexure Attachment while cost
of the best mixtures in each ratio was computed using the
formula:

% 𝑀𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑎𝑙 𝑥 𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑒 𝑝𝑒𝑟 𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡 + % 𝑜𝑓 𝑐𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 + 𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑒 𝑝𝑒𝑟 𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡

Proposed Title of the Traffic Operations at the Approaches to the Boundary

Study: Checkpoint Sites During COVID-19 Pandemic
Brief Background of
the Study: Throughout the pandemic, COVID-19 border security and
traffic safety checkpoints were set up to inspect people entering
and exiting in each n province in the country, as well as the
movement of people inside that province in compliance with the
protocol enforced by the Philippine government. This condition
could result in increased traffic congestion, longer delays, and
higher operational costs for motorists, as well as an increase in
the number of traffic accidents on the roads.
In order to effectively manage the traffic operational
turbulence at highway checkpoint sections, which has the
potential to significantly impact the road's capacity and safety
levels, a proper understanding of such operations is necessary.

Objectives of the
Study: The purpose of this study is to investigate into the traffic
operations on the approaches to Aurora's boundary checkpoint
locations.
More specifically, this study will identify and define
certain parameters that affect the road's safety and capacity.
Different parameters will also be evaluated, including traffic
flow, average speed, lane use, speed differential, congestion, and
queuing.

Methodology:
Field data for this study will be collected at the Aurora
boundary checkpoint in Canili, Maria Aurora, Aurora. The
researcher will work alongside authorized officials at the
checkpoint, observing numerous traffic parameters with a camera
recorder. The researchers will monitor traffic flow and speed,
lane utilization, traffic congestion, queening length, and speed
differentials in order to assess traffic safety near highway
checkpoint locations.
