THE CONSTITUTION OF UMUNUMO YOUTH ASSOCIATION OF
NIGERIA (ABA CHAPTER)
The association shall be called Umunumo Youth Association of Nigeria
Aba Chapter.

MOTTO: UNITY AND PROGRESS

SECTION ONE: AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

It is aimed to gather the youth of Umunumo Amandugba living in Aba


and above that they shall positively stand out for a better tomorrow.

To embrace peace, love and progress among our brothers.

OBJECTIVES: To be our brothers keeper in all circumstances with


respect to the law of the land and that of the association.

SECTION TWO: SCREENING & REGISTRATION

 Screening and acceptance of a new member


 Every new member will be fairly screened with every sense of reasoning
before that person will be accepted as a member.
 Registration of new member.
 Every new member has to register with the sum of #5000 and a bottle of
spirit wine to the general meeting (non-refundable).
 Every founding member are to register with the sum of #1000 only non-
refundable to the general meeting.#
 Every registered member must renew his membership annually with the
sum of #500 only.
 Membership ID card: every registered member will be issued an ID card
for identification.
SECTION THREE: RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Respect: respect among members irrespective of age, wealth and


personalities is mandatory.
 No abusive words in or outside the meeting.
2. Smoking, drinking and perambulating around during meeting hours
is highly prohibited
 There must be no noise making and distraction of any kind during
meeting hours.
 On no account will your cell phone ring at the progress of the
meeting (therefore, your cell phone must be on silent mood or
vibration mood during meeting hours).
3. If any members is fined guilty of any of the above , will pay a fine of
#100 only
4. If any member(s) is/are found misbehaving to the extend of bring
shame and reproach to the name of these great association, the
member will pay a penalty of #5,000
5. If a member fights another member in or outside the meeting attract
a penalty of #5000 and #2000 respectively (if found guilty).
6. If any member fails to come to meeting for 3 consecutive times, that
members will loose his membership. (but the executives will write to
him or call him to know his reasons). Then he will re-register again if
he finds it interesting or necessary (but not as a new person) and
7. Lateness to meeting attracts a fine of #200
8. Absenteeism attracts a penalty of #500
9. Fake or unaccepted excuse also attracts a penalty of #500
10. Stealing is strictly prohibited, if caught and an investigation set out,
if found
11. Cultism is highly prohibited, therefore on no account will any
member bee involved in cultism.
12. If any member should arrest another members unofficially or
without the authorization of the association, that member will pay a
penalty of #10,000. Therefore if there be any misunderstanding among
members, it should be brought to the meeting for deliberation, and if
after fair Judgement has been passed by this great association and you
feel you are not satisfied with the judgement, thereby take the matter to
another authority or place. If thereafter, another judgement is passed in
line with that of this great association. Then that member will come to the
meeting with a bottle of original spirit wine and kola nuts (garden egg) for
restitution in addition to the earlier stated #10,000 penalty for letting us
down (UYA).
SECTION FOUR : DRESS CODE / OUTFIT
1. Every member must dress modestly while coming for meeting and
during outing of any kind.
2. No wearing of bathroom slippers to meetings unless on emergency.
3. No wearing of singlet, body hawk, sleeveless shirts, and short-
nickers of any kind to meeting.
4. No sagging while coming to the meeting
5. On no account will any member put on abnormal cap to the meeting
therefore wearing of abnormal cap is strictly prohibited.
6. Any member who falls victim of the above stated dressing
irregularities. Will pay a fine of #1000
SECTION FIVE : FORMALITIES

1. The association (UYA Aba chapter) will be holding their meeting


every two (2) weeks Sunday, i.e two times in a month (this can be
changed when due, if found necessary).
2. Time for meeting: 4pm
3. Lateness to meeting attracts a fine of #200
4. Monthly dues
5. Every member will pay #200 as dues per every meeting (it can be
changed anytime).
6. Hosting of the meeting
 Two persons will be hosting meeting at every seating (hosting of the
meeting is rotational).
 Hosting of the meeting is stated to cost a minimum of #1500
 Failure to host the meeting when it is your turn attract a penalty of
#2000 and also host the meeting at the next seating.
7. There will be an emergency meeting authorised by the
chairman/president when the need arises.
8. There will be an executives meeting monthly if found necessary
9. In every freewill donation, there will be a certain amount every
member must reach or exceed. (no member is exempted of this)
10. There will be a get together / end of the year party annually and
every member must be fully involved.
11. It is mandatory for each member to pay for his levy and participate
in free will donations.
12. The meeting will be starting on the last Sunday of February and
ends on the 2nd Sunday of December each year.
SECTION SIX: LIFE BENEFIT/RIGHT

1. There is only one life benefit as regards to ceremony or invitation.


2. If a person who have collected life benefit invite this association (UYA)
for another ceremony, it will be honoured but no benefit will be given
rather we will give whatever thing that pleases us individually
3. The amount to be given as benefits is #100,000 only
4. The #100,000 will be spread by UYA and after spreading, it will be
gathered and handed over to the beneficiary.
 Every member will put a minimum of #2000 in his pocket for spreading
in every ceremony.
5. Failure to honour the invitation of a member attracts a penalty of
#3000 (#2000 for celebrant or the bereved, #1000 to the purse of the
association).
6. Any member who fails to pay the levied amount of money before the
ceremonial date or time will pay fine of 50% of the levied amount.
7. The transportation fee to a program will be shared equally between
UYA and the bereaved irrespective of the location or the amount .
 The transportation fee to a program will be provided for us by the
celebrant.
8. Any member who falls victim of police arrest or any problem of as
such; if not find guilty, respectively the association will support base
on the issue at hand (this responsibility will be shared 50/50).
9. Any member who falls seriously sick, and is hospitalized for 3 days
this association will help him out with the sum of #10,000 only
10. The celebrant must or will give us two month notice for invitation
11. Exempt the pioneer member, four (4) years from your registration
date qualifies you for your financial right #100,000
12. Any member who is not financially up to date his invitation of any
form will be honoured but his financial right may be altered.
13. Any member who have collected right / benefit has to stay till ten
years and above before he can be allowed to go out of the
association, if he wants to leave.
14. Failure to pay any levy attract a 50% fine
15. Failure to honour an invitation by a member without a sound or
concrete reason before the ceremonial date attract a penalty of #3,000

SECTION SIX B : DEATH BENEFIT


1. Burial of a member: #100,000 death benefit will be given to the
wife of our member who is dead.

or

2. The same #100,000 will be given to our member who’s wife is


dead.
This statement depends on who first kicked the bucket between
the husband and the wife.
Therefore, there is only one death benefit as regards ceremony or
event.
3. If a member lost his child, a condolence sum of #20,000 cash will
be given to him and his UYA will support him with the necessary
assistance he may be needing at that time.
4. Parents death: (for the burial of a member’s father or mother) in
our village:
 a condolence sum of #30,000 naira will be given to the bereaved
family and UYA will be going for the ceremony with food and drinks
of choice, and charter the vehicle that will convey members to the
event to and fro
 50,000 will be given to the person if we did not carry any food or
drink
5. Death of an in-law (for the burial of a members in-law) outside our
village: A condolence sum of #30,000 naira will be given to the
bereaved family and charter a bus that will convey members to
the event. while the bereaved family see to the drink and food we
eat.

SECTION SEVEN: INVITATION AND ENTERTAINMENT


1. If a member plans an event, that member will give to us (UYA)
one months notice, to enable members prepare for the event
2. Requirement for invitation
1 cartoon of can malt
1 packet of cabin biscuit

3. Entrainment:
In an event the celebrant or the bereaved will give us (UYA Aba
chapter )
1 cooler of rice with enough meat
2 full fried chicken
2 carton of beer
1 cartoon of malt

SECTION EIGHT: POSITION / PORTFOLIOS

1. The president / vice president must be a person who is in good


and regular standing and also must have leadership charisma
2. The secretary / vice secretary must have good hand writing and
will be audible and fluent in reading, he must be literate and able to
defend and interpret write up.
3. Financial secretary, must be calculative, articula
4. tive and retentive, he must be able to tabulate figures according to
their items involved. At the maximum of 48 hours all cash at his
possession should be with the treasurer.
5. The treasure, must be available at all time and will be a good
business man that have access to money/funds at all time. He
must be calculative in recording transactions.
6. The PRO must be up and doing never to relent and willing to
volunteer his time to achieve organizational goal and target and
must also be loyal and submissive member.
7. The provost must be humble and well mannered and always ready
to serve. He have to report any critical problem during the meeting
to the president or his vice to decide on.
8. Duration of office and tenure will always last for a period of four
years
9. Office holder will not exceed two times of the same position.
10. 2/3 (two-third) of the house qualifies a vote of no confidence to
inability officer after a referendum has been passed.
11. This constitution is subject to amendment when necessary
12. The past president can only be a patron and not to be demoted
after his tenure.
