Celebrity Gossip Newspaper

I learned how to imitate newspaper formatting in structure, scale, and fonts. I learned
how to incorporate images to wrap within texts and how to caption images. The
assignment was also a lesson in collaborating with classmates when we created
postings of our work to be selected. It was challenging to filter to find what I believed to
be good articles. I discerned subject matters, as some stories ranged from light-
hearted and cute to dark and crude. I also decided what articles were composed well
because I did not want stories that would require total restructuring. I used the
Grammarly website to check for correctness in my peers’ articles, and fact-checked the
correct spelling of characters’ names.

1.7.a Students use digital tools to connect with learners from a variety of backgrounds
and cultures, engaging with them in ways that broaden mutual understanding and
learning.

Students may learn about collaboration by constructing a publication such as a

classroom newsletter. Students will learn about various newspaper duties and build
their interpersonal skills by deciding who will have what role. They will need to work
together to write articles, take photos, sell advertisements, edit, manage, and meet
deadlines. Spatial learners construct the publication’s format. Naturalistic learners can
source sustainable materials. Mathematical learners will make deadlines and print
goals. Younger students may write about topics within curriculum or the school, while
older students may explore politics and world events.
