TASK: Script/explanation | explain impact of a physical disability and teaching strategies

Impact of a physical disability

Education is the fundamental needs of every growing child to have an idea what a future they
want to have. However, not everyone is capable of learning in a flexible manner, some of them
are having a physical disability.
Physical disability – is a limitation on a person’s physical functioning, mobility, dexterity, or
stamina. (kung baga isa sila sa mga tinatawag nating PWD or person with disability. Marahil
The impact of physical disability on learning will vary but for most students the issues of the
most significant relate to physical access, manipulation of equipment (e.g., in laboratory),
access to computers, participation in field trips and the time and energy experience in moving
around campus. Students may be affected in the following ways:
By dealing the impact of the learners who is having a physical disability, may mga student na

 When there is limited time to move between venues, students may miss the beginning of
a class.
Because they aren’t moving the same speed and have the same function in the normal
body that turns out to be slow moving and it consumes time moving to each venue.
talakayan.)

 Fatigues is common for many these students. Using facilities that others take for
granted, such as toilets, food-outlets, libraries, and lecture rooms, may be a major
undertaking.
People who do not clearly understand the respective areas of people with disabilities
must face consequences. It may be disrespectful to every person who has physical
disabilities and can be a negative impact on them because it may cause an
underestimating of the capacity of PWD’s.

 Some students may experience functional difficulties: an inability to write using a pen;
reduced writing speed; involuntary head movements which affect the ability to ready
standard-sized print; and reduced ability to manipulate resources in the learning
environment. They may have difficulty turning pages or using standard computers.
But still they are schools talaga
that prioritize this kind of students because it is important to maintain their physical
movements I mean para maavoid pa yung mas mabagal nap ag kilos nila.

 Students may have frequent or unexpected absences from class owing to hospitalization
or changes in their rehabilitation or treatment procedure. Earlier periods of
hospitalization may have meant gaps in schooling.
Because of fighting against their condition, it is really hard for them to sacrifice
everything just to cure their kapansanan.

 Students with a long-standing mobility disability may have experienced gaps in their
schooling due to periods of hospitalization. This may have affected their confidence in
learning.
If a person has always been hospitalized by their condition, most specifically with
physical disability to cure and prolong life, we should still appreciate their existence.
Being hospitalized has never been so easy to take because they have a lot of things to
support the child’s need.

 Students with a mobility impairment may have fewer opportunities for interaction with
other students. Feelings of separateness in the learning environment may have an
impact on learning.
It seems sad to be separate and have limited opportunities to interact. Some students
with physical disabilities have a big impact on the learning environment whenever they
are separated.
Teaching Strategies
There is a range of inclusive teaching strategies that can assist all students to learn but there
are some specific strategies that are useful in teaching a group which includes students with
physical impairment.
It has a big effort to put just to be effective teachers and
learners, perseverance comes within the confidence of each student, in order to fulfill the
enough knowledge and opportunities we have to implement a strategies in teaching to those
pupils who had disability.
The fact that students have a mobility disability may not always be immediately apparent. Needs
will vary, and difficulties may fluctuate. Some students will choose to disclose their disability;
others will not. At your first lecture, you might invite any students who have a disability to
contact you for a confidential discussion of their specific learning needs. You might also ask
students what, if any, information would need to be shared with other members of staff, or with
other students in the class. Below are some further suggestions:
a

 Students who use wheelchairs, calipers, or crutches, or who tire easily, may find it
difficult moving about within the constraints of lecture timetables. Absence or lateness
may be a result of the distance between teaching venues, so at the end of a lecture you
may need to recap any information given at the beginning.
Because of their condition they intend to have a distance learning which may be result in
lost of confidence since they must catch up on lectures. They must do the recaps of any
information regarding on the topic about.

 Check that academic activities which take place off-campus (such as industry visits,
interview, or fieldwork) are accessible to people with a mobility disability. Consider
supplementary laboratory practical’s, films, or videos as alternative options to field trips.
Para sakin, we can’t underestimate people with disability, although they are not fully capable
Marahil may

 Students with a mobility disability may sometimes wish to use their own furniture, such
as ergonomic chairs or sloped writing tables. Extra space may need to be created in
teaching room, but this should be done unobtrusively.
Kase nakakatulong ito sa kanila mas magign flexible by their own using their personal things
that will be helpful to them while studying. Also, by giving the chance to have a space more
than the normal space, they feel more comfortable to enjoy listening.

 Some students with back problems may prefer to stand in lecture or classes, rather than
sit.
a

 Some students may need to use a tape recorder or note-taker in lecture. Extra time is
involved in processing information acquired in this way. It is common practice in some
departments to routinely tape all lectures. This is a practice which will assist a variety of
students, including those who may be absent from time to time because of their
disability.
It helps students not just to the pupils with disabilities, because all students need time to
refresh their mind to rethink again. So, it is useful lalo na sa mga may physical disability lalo
And mas maenhance pa nila yung

 Students may need extensions to deadlines for work involving locating and using library
resources. Provide reading list well before the start of a course so that reading can begin
early.
Teachers must be considerate in any tasks that is given to those pupils with physical
disability. They should not feel the pressure just to be on time. But rather, teachers could
give a one week before passing their tasks so they can have enough time and effort to
accomplish the task.
