Activity #1

Directions: This is an individual activity by which each student will find

and read three editorials (local or international) discussing globalization.
Write 50-word summaries of each opinion editorial, identifying the
underlying definition of globalization.

1. Title/Topic: “Globalization and Wealth Creation in Developing

Countries”

- This article offers a solid overview of how globalization has

increased income in certain countries through industrialization and trade.
While the author, Nigel Hogan, recognizes that there are issues with
wealth equality for different countries, he puts up a sound argument
backed by strong sources that globalization can be seen as a force for
economic good.

2. Title/Topic: “Is Globalization Reducing Poverty and Inequality?”

- This scholarly research article does an excellent job of examining
both sides of the globalization debate. It examines statistics and draws
strong conclusions, particularly about the alleged growth and fall of
global poverty rates. Whether you support or oppose any part of
globalization, this article can help you go deeper into the statistics and
better comprehend the margin of error.
3 Title/Topic:“Academic Integrity, Remix Culture, Globalization: A
Canadian Case Study of Student and Faculty Perceptions of Plagiarism”
- This scholarly article takes a novel approach to globalization by
examining the topic from an educational rather than an economic
standpoint. Tyler Evans-Tokaryk, a Writing Specialist and Senior
Lecturer at the University of Toronto Mississauga, gives a thorough
examination of global plagiarism views and how Western colleges must
develop in their approach to the problem. Tokaryk also gives a complete
bibliography of his sources, which you may find valuable in your own
research.

Activity #2

1. I think the most likely reason behind globalization is the

perspective of Chanda (2007) because we need and want to
make our lives better and easier. That's how globalization
happens. For us to seek ideas from different countries and
people to build new things to make our lives better.

2. For me, the definition of Ray Kiely and Phil Marfleet is the
most likely accepted as a definition of globalization because we
all know that, because of globalization, we are not only getting
ideas from other countries but also building good
communication and relationships with them while we exchange
things, culture, and experiences with them.
