Make your own Philosophy of the self, incorporating the ideas you learned from the

different Philosophers.

To begin this, I would like to define what “self” really is. According to vocabulary.com,
self is our consciousness of our own identity. It simply means the identity of a particular person.
Upon reading the module that talks about the interpretation of different philosophers about self, I
have distinguished that each of them have different views about what really self is. A few of
them interconnect self with mind and body, some also correspond self with the experiences of a
person.
With that I have come to the thought that self is associated with our character. I
personally believe that we have our own selves and that each and every one of us is different.
What makes us different? It is our character traits that makes us different. It determines how we
handle and manipulate every circumstances as we live our lives. Also, character give us insights
on how we perform any task that is given to us and how we communicate with other people. In
every challenges that we are and will about to face, we are making tough decisions and choices
that would greatly affect our future. Therefore, I must say that it is within our character that
determines if we succeeded or failed as an individual.
