700E Type 6 Dry Pilot & Electrically-Controlled Deluge Valve

Operation
The BERMAD Model 700E Type 6 is suited for a dual detection system, dry and electric. It is used as the primary
control valve in automatic systems including open nozzles and a dual fire detection system. The 700E Type 6 is held
closed by pressure applied to the upper chamber of the main valve ➊.
In the SET condition, the water pressure, supplied through the restricted priming line ➋, is trapped in the upper
chamber by: a check valve ➌, a closed PORV ➍ (Pressure Operated Relief Valve) pilot valve and a normally closed
solenoid valve ➎. The PORV is held closed by the maintained pneumatic pressure in the detection line ➏. The
trapped water pressure holds the seal-disk of the main valve to the valve seat ➐. Sealing is drip-tight and the system
piping is dry.
The typical redundant detection system includes both a dry pilot line with thermal detectors, and an independent,
electrically-controlled detection system.
In a FIRE or TEST condition, the 700E Type 6 trips upon receiving a command from one of the detection systems or
by the manual release ➑. Water exits the accelerator ➒ faster than it can be supplied to the upper chamber,
allowing the main valve to open and water to flow into the system piping and to the alarm device.
For installation and maintenance, see BERMAD publication "700E Type 6 - IOM".

Te n d e r S p e c i f i c a t i o n s
The deluge valve shall be UL-listed as a unit, "Y" pattern (or angle), with automatic reset.
Valve actuation shall be accomplished by one moving assembly, which shall include a flat seal-disk and a stainless
steel stem.
The valve seat shall be made of stainless steel and have an unobstructed flow path, with no stem guide or
supporting ribs.
The basic control trim shall be factory pre-assembled and integrated to the main valve, hydraulically-tested, UL-listed
and supplied as an assembly consisting of:
• PORV (Pressure-Operated Relief Valve), UL-listed
• "Y" strainer
• 2-way solenoid pilot valve
• Spring-loaded check valve
• Venturii action accelerator
• Manual emergency release assembly with stainless steel bracket
• Non-corrosive trim of uniform metal, neither steel nor galvanized piping is permitted
The manufacturer shall be certified according to ISO 9001 standards.
