Introduction.

The recent state of education in South Africa is a problem to many a parent and
many people in society. Many schools environment in South Africa can be seen as
'maladjusted’ but as stated by the government, the schooling system is transforming
for better education. The data we have access in, however, recommended that
South African people lack basic skills, and knowledge equated to their friends around
the world and that the education standards in South Africa are. In general, very
below standards. Nevertheless, there is a huge division even on the provinces as
well as the different institutional districts and even various schools in these districts.
In this topic, we are going to discuss the challenges currently experienced within the
South African educational milieu.
Challenges

Infrastructure and Facilities

Recently in 2013. The government acted the reducing norms, standards for
educational infrastructures, required the government to make sure that this must
v=be done in November 2016, all institutions have access to sanitation and
electricity, and replaced with safe and adequate sanitation and that institution build
from inappropriate resources for example mud and asbestos are replaced.
Nevertheless, the government’s own, the data reflect the targets have not been met.
The challenge affects most learners in the educational system whereby the facility is
not adequate for the learners to learn. If government provides more adequate
equipment, to make the school functional, the standard of education will improve
within the certain society.

As the department of education to miss its targets to innovate learning infrastructure.

For example, the schools in Limpopo and Northern Cape have below the standard
infrastructure and lack basic facilities.

Most infrastructure issues occur when there is lack of sanitation, which affect not just
the student environment but even the health, privacy, and their dignity.

Overcrowded Classroom.

According to Van Wyk (2008:143) believed that overcrowded classrooms, contribute

to the fact that poor learning conditions because of the lack of space, fresh air, and
high noise levels can lead to a lack of attention and even create stress within the
learners. This has an impact on an educational system whereby it affects both
learners and teachers in the school environment. Most of this can be proven on the
latest standardized test, where educators given response about their working
conditions. Educators mention four useful problems for example the building needed
to be repaired, overcrowding, and inadequate instructional materials. It is concluded
that if the classroom has fewer learners such as 20 learners per class, can have a
high effect on the improvement of the educational system within the school.
However, the government has to provide an effective database where they can
manage the provision of resources and materials to inadequate schools within the
country.
According to Marais (2016:5) stated that problematic behaviour includes a lack of
attention in class, boredom in the class, an increase in noise level in class, fighting,
and also even vandalizing resources.

Poor education outcomes

There is a lot of challenges in today’s educational programs. Nevertheless, the huge

problem is always the outdated educational outcomes or models. The education
outcome or model is not adequate to assist the required of modern learners. The
previous curriculum that didn’t linked with the showcase world didn’t let learners
move forwards. Therefore, it is concluded that outdated educational outcomes need
to be updated with modern educational trends; this means it will help learners to
display their talent and understand recent development more effectively.

This will have an impact on developing the new framework on how learners should
be taught, as it will improve the standard of the schools in our country. Most people
believe that within 5 years, this will change and they do not have the assurance that
this will be effective, as it will not improve the standard of education within schools
around the country.

Illustration of examples

Most of the schools within our country-specifically in our provinces, lack

infrastructure whereby affects the learning process of the learner and congestive
environment for both learners and teachers. If the government-provided resources
and rebuilt the infrastructure of the schools it will accommodate more learners with
more resources. For example, more schools in rural areas do not have the basic
facilities whereby they have sufficient resources such as water, electricity, and a
healthy environment. If the district circuit proves quality control of the educational
system in the society, whereby they go through all schools in the country and
investigate the infrastructure of the school, and where needs to be renovated. This
will help positively on the educational system within the community or society. The
more the facility of the schools is adequate.

Overcrowded of the learners, mostly happen in the public school whereby learners
are unable to concentrate enough in the classes. This can be reduced by building
more classrooms in the schools, the more infrastructure built within our society, the
more it will create job opportunities for more qualified teachers to be appointed to the
certain school. In this, it will improve the problem that we are facing regarding
unemployment within our country. Therefore, if we have more facilities, each teacher
will pay more attention to the learners and understand more about individual learners
where they struggle so that it can be easier for the teacher to assist the certain
learner.

It is a day-to-day thing that we experience within the education environment where

CAPS does not support the movement of phases to phases where it is difficult the
access as it put pressure on the learners and teachers. To improve on this, the
foundation phase has an impact on the learning process of the learner as it gives a
basic understanding of the curriculum and makes it easier for the learner to
understand a certain phase, which is the Senior Phase. The more the curriculum is
evaluated, amended, and made easier and more effective for both learners and
teachers improves the standard of our education worldwide.

Strategies

Strategies of teaching overcrowded classrooms

It is possible to teach in an overcrowded classroom. SMT need to improve creative

problem-solving initiatives, which as appointing educator’s assistance, mentorship
programs, and improvement in-service training. The appointment of educator
assistance is nominated as it expressed the belief that teachers are able to take care
of discipline problems and feel less overwhelmed and huge of overcrowdedness of
their classroom, So people were needed.

Improvement of mentoring programs and learnership training is recognised as

another problem solving initiated by the SMT (School management Team) can
implemented. It is advice that it must be continuous profession development; we
should nominate b mentors that are skilled to help the teacher. Mentoring programs
and in service training can help teachers with the right resources to deal with
problem behaviour or discipline problems mostly associated with overcrowded
classroom. Therefore, I advise that the more as teachers we become strict and firm
to the learners so that the learners can be more discipline.
Screening and selection of prospective educators

If the department of Education become more effective on screening and selection of

prospective teachers, it will the more effective on education industry. Most people
they are doing teaching because is the only optional for them to do in which it will
affect the standard of education within our country. To many young adult consider
teaching because there is more holiday and half day working hours. When it come
on recruiting teachers we need to access the quality of the teaching and impact that
the teacher will provide for the improvement of our educational system as it is one of
our big impact in our country. I believe that if the department of education prioritise
the salaries and benefit of our teaching profession it will have the impact of
improving the recruitment of new teacher as they will be more adequate with the
rightful resources to improve the educational system.

Differentiation

It was stated that young teacher in government school the cannot cope with the work
provided to them. This is important a great strategy announced is that the other
people have referred “differentiation”; the word is explained by the Cambridge
dictionary is “observe, ascertain or recognize the difference (in or between)”. As
nominated refers to this word from the bingeing of nominated to neglect destruction.
The basic facilities is that, since children, teachers and lecturers were not indicated
as one referred, as kind of education can’t suffice or achieved. Looking at the data
we have regarding unemployment within our youth, the department of education
must employees young adult with a suitable skills and provide them with training as it
will improve the standard of our education within our educational system.

Infrastructure and facilities

This is one of the biggest challenge in South African educational environment where
most of the building they don’t adhere with the occupational health and safety of both
learners and teachers, the SMT must provide suitable solution in terms of keep the
environment more safe for both learners and teachers. If more classes are built and
many school introduce within one community to cover both disabilities learners and
learners will have an impact on school management and well discipline environment.
Conclusion

I will conclude by stating that the state of South African education has a long way to
improve from previous system where used during apartheid era. Department of
Education still have adopt the same style were used by apartheid system but I was
amended in regard equality for both learner to the taught by the choice of their any
language they prefer. If we implement new strategies that can improve our
educational system and how learners should be taught it will improve our economic
growth as it has the impact on the economy. The more we build infrastructure for
schools the more education became cost effective and efficient.
