This symposium taught me the true meaning stress and how to handle it whenever it came to me

full force or not because to tell you the truth, I really didn’t know what is the true meaning of
stress, I often used it as a joke like I am so stress of you but I never really meant it because I did
not know what it means because I really never had a thought about it, but with our lesson I
finally learned it, the instructor even taught the types of stress and their difference like eustress
being a kind of good stress because it improved our performances in terms of academic and
work, and distress being a bad stress that prevent or lower our performance for every day. In my
opinion, I would pick eustress than distress or if I ever felt distress I would like to convert it into
eustress and live my life without worries and stress. I would love to live without stress but it is
part of our lives so what I need is just toning it down to the point that it will never affect me
negatively in my academic and life. With our speaker also talking about how to take care of
ourselves made happy to know that without knowing how to properly take care of myself, I
always do it unconsciously like taking breaks in studying if I suddenly felt distracted or
unfocused and I always pampered myself by doing things that I like or do things that will make
me relax specially, after exams or big projects. How can we handle stress? This discussion talked
about PERMAS where P stands for positive emotion where is says that we should find our
happiness and always be thankful of what we receive. E stands for engagement where we should
love what we do to enhance and expand our skills. R stands for relationship where we should
develop relationships to have social support. M stands for meaning where we should find the true
meaning of our life. A stands for accomplishment where we should set our own goal in life but
not to high so we could easily accomplish it and set another goals that were higher than what we
already accomplish. S stands for spirituality and self-awareness where we should develop
spirituality and we should be aware on our own weaknesses and find our own strengths.
It is good to have a discussion about stress, specially in this time where a lot people were
suffering of so much stress in school, office, and home. It is good that were not just focusing on
academic lessons but also talking about this topic that is really essential to know. And it is sad to
say but, I already seen two Facebook posts about teenagers being so stress they are having
difficulty of breathing and they were hospitalized because of it. I am hoping that this lesson can
reduce the number of people having a lot of stress because being stress in a long period of time is
bad for our health. Stress in inevitable because it is part of living but being eaten of stress is a
choice.
