A SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN:

Routine and non-routine problems involving volumes of solids

Content Standard:
The learners demonstrate understanding of solving routine and non-routine involving of
volumes of solid figures.
Performance Standard:
The Learners are able to apply knowledge of solving involving volumes in solid figures
in mathematical problems and real life situation
Learning Competency:
Solves routine and non-routine problems involving volumes of solids.M6ME-IVe-98, Week 2
I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After an hour of class discussion and activities, the learners will be able to:
1. Find the volume of cylinders, pyramids, cones, and spheres.
2. Solve routine and non-routine problems involving volume of solids.
3. Patience in solving routine and non-routine problems involving volumes of solids.
II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. Topic: Solves routine and non-routine problems involving volumes of solids.

B. Subtopic: Solid Figures

C. Strategies: Inductive Method, Individual Activity

D. References: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEwMKovcC6w

E. Materials: Pictures, Laptop , Power point Presentation , Activity sheets

III. DEVELOPMENT OF THE LESSON

A. Routine/ Preliminary Activities

1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Checking of Attendance
4. Energizer

B. Review

 The teacher will have a brief recap about yesterday’s lesson and ask the student about the
solving problems involving average rate, distance, time and speed.

Distance problems are word problems that involve the distance an object will travel at a
certain average rate for a given period of time.
The formula for distance problems is: distance = rate × time or d = r × t.

C. Motivation Activity

The teacher will show a picture of different shapes or solid figures.

D. LESSON PROPER

The teacher will introduce the topic

The teacher will introduce the learning objectives

What is routine problem?

A routine problem is a translation problem in which you can write an equation and there is an
immediate solution.

What is non-routine problem?

A non-routine problem is a problem in which it requires analysis and insights into known
principles of mathematics.

The teacher will discuss how to:

Find the volume of a cylinder
Find the volume of pyramid
Find the volume of a cone.
Find the volume of a sphere.

E. Generalization

Guided Questions:

1. The teacher will ask the students, what are the four solid figures that we discuss?

2. What is non-routine problem?

3. What is routine problem?

F. APPLICATION

The class will answer the problem.

A cylinder has a radius of 7 cm and a height of 10 cm. Find the volume.

1. What are the given facts? (radius – 7cm, height- 10cm)

2. What is asked? (Find the volume of the cylinder)
3. Determined the formula to be used.
4. Solve.
