Week 3: The Interview

1. Have you ever been to a job interview? If yes, how did you prepare for it? Of no, how are you
going to prepare for it?
No. I haven’t been experienced a job interview, and it is one of my worries after college.
I’ve been going into realizations that I just have a year and a half to prepare myself for a lot of
interviews that I need to go through to get a job. During vacation I tried to watch videos on
Youtube about work interviews-tip and tricks, and also, I do assess myself, ask myself common
questions that has been asked in the job interviewees. During these times, I realized that I’m
one of those people who understand English, good at writing sentence, but not good in speaking
using this language. And that’s when I set goal of English fluency, I have to practice my
pronunciations as well as widening my vocabulary. I find speaking fluently in English important
because it will give me an advantage amongst other applicants.

2. Why is the video titled “This is the worst job interview?” Do you consider the scenario as the
worst job Interview? Justify answer.
The video entitled “This is the worst job interview” considered as the worst job
interview because of the way the interviewer handled the interview. He doesn’t act like an
interviewer, instead he seems discouraging the applicants by telling what he is expecting and
what he wants from the applicants. He didn’t acknowledge the skills the applicants have, he
continuously speaking without letting the aspirant applicants to speak for herself. Another thing
I noticed is that he is not using right tone - a conversational tone. It is not also appropriate for
him to accept not important calls while in interview, and worst he did is that he introduced the
person in call with the interviewee. It is unethical for an interviewer to do that whenever he
wanted because it is uncomfortable situation.

3. In your opinion, what are the things that the interviewee could have done to avoid being in that
situation?
For me, as someone who knows that soon I will be in the position that I will be
interviewed for the position I wanted in a certain company, If things like this happen to me, that
the interviewer go on and on without asking questions I will handle it in a way that I have to
Interrupt him politely or wait for a pause, then say for example, “By the way, I wanted to ask
you about that requirement in the job posting as it reminds me of a project I completed in my
most recent role...”
One thing I also learned from the videos on YouTube about tips in job interview is that, the
person who asks the questions controls the conversation.
