High Speed Railway Project (HSR)

Kyungbu HSR is the 1st high speed rail line in Korea, of which total length is 418.7 km, stretching from Seoul Station to Busan
Station, Choryang-dong, Dong-gu, Pusan and went in operation on April 1, 2004.

Kyungbu HSR Project was planned to open the 1st phase 2004 and the 2nd phase 2010.
Phase 1 of the Project was initiated in June, 1992 and completed in 2004, with the Seoul ~ Daegu section newly built and the existing
Daegu ~ Busan section and intra-city conventional railroad sections in Daejeon and Daegu electrified. Phase 2 of the Project that
began in 2006 includes construction of Daegu ~ Busan with scheduled
completion in 2010. Upon completion of the Project, trip time between

Metro Project (Busan)
Busan Metro Line 1, 2, and 3 Projects

Busan Metro Line 1 is the urban transit line of Busan Transportation Corporation, linking Sinpyong Station, Saha-gu, Busan
City and Nopo Station, Geumjeong-gu. Busan Metro Line 1 was built in 4 phases.

Initially, the line was built in 3 phases from Nopodong Station (Presently Nopo station) to Seodaeshindong Station (Presently
Seodaeshin station) and extended in Phase 4 up to Sinpyong Station.
1The line Commercial Operation on Jul.19, 1985 and became what it look today on Jun.23, 1994. Since its go-live, the largest
number of passengers have used Busan Metro Line 1 except for the subway lines in Seoul Metropolitan Area and extension up to
Daedaepo is planned to be completed in 2016.

Busan Metro Line 2 is the 2nd subway line of Busan, crossing the city from the east to the west, starting from Hopo,
Hwamyong, Deokcheon to Seomyeon, Gyeongseong Univ., Gwanganri, and Haewoondae.

Busan Metro Line 2 was built in 3 phases:

Phase 1 is 22.4km-long between Hopo ~ Seomyeon ; Phase 2 is 16.7km-long between Seomyeon ~ Jangsan ; and Phase 3 is
11.3km-long between Hopo ~ Bukjeong. The line starts from Jangsan Station, Haewoondae-gu, Busan and ends at Yangsan
Station, Yangsan City, Gyungsangnamdo, crossing Haewoondae, Suyoung Junction, Seomyeon, Jurye, Sasang and Hwamyongdong
Stations.
In comparison with Line 1, Line 2 has fewer passengers, however, form a critical part of trunk line linking the east and the west of
Busan City and crossing major universities and suburban districts of Busan, with quite a many passengers in commuting hours.
Notably, with the operation of Yangsan Line, Line 2 provides Yangsan New Town which is the major bedtown of Busan with critical
transit access to the urban districts of Busan.

Busan Metro Line 3 (Suyeong Station ~ Kyungbu Line Gupo Station ~ Daejeo Station) went in operation on 28 November
2005, and intersects with the existing line 1 and 2 in a shape of #

Communication System
Passenger numbers are not so big compared to Line 1 and 2, however, a plenty of passengers use this Line 3 for transfer and Sajik
Stadium Station during baseball season.

Project Overview
Busan Transportation Corporation is operating the Line, and the 2nd largest number of passengers have used Busan
Metro Line except for Seoul Metro Line.
