Part A

Aim: Introduction to Packet Tracer.

Outcome

Learn about packet tracer

Learn the principles of networking and packet tracer

Theory:
Packet Tracer: Packet Tracer is a cross-platform visual simulation tool designed by Cisco
Systems that allows users to create network topologies and imitate modern computer
networks. The software allows users to simulate the configuration of Cisco routers. Packet
Tracer is a powerful network simulator that can be utilized in training for CCNA

This is the opening window of packet tracer.

There are different modules and panels available in the packet tracer. Some important
modules, which are important to understand for the working in Packet Tracer.
We can add many devices and make connection
Create a scenario by

Adding 2 PCs

Connect them using wires

Assign IP addresses

Check their connection using

-Ping

- Realtime mode

- Simulation

Part B

Student should create scenario using packet tracer mentioned in Part A and add screen
shots here.

Add screen shots for following:

 INITIAL WITH CONNECTION OF TWO PCS ADD LABELS WITH IP
ADDRESS YOU ASSIGNED

 PING COMMAND OUTPUT FOR BOTH

 REAL TIME MODE

SIMULATION MODE ICMP PACKETS (FOR EACH)

Questions:

Q1) If you ping from 1st pc to 2nd pc for very first time using ping command and if u again
ping from 2nd to 1st what is your output for both ,write your observation regarding time, and
round trip time

Ans: When we perform the ping command form PC0 to PC1 & PC1 to PC0 the average round
trip time is 0 and maximum time is 1 ms
Q2) In simulation mode check 2ndICMP packet details and find out Source and destination
MAC address. Find out source and destination IP addresses

Ans:

 Source MAC address – 0001.4391.E311

 Destination MAC address- 0040.0859.E586
 Source IP address – 192.168.10.2
 Destination IP address – 192.168.10.1
