Save The Moon Handout
Save The Moon Handout
Outline:
On a stormy night, two days before Christmas, Ky and her family were
watching a movie when her mom noticed a stranger outside their home.
They invite the stranger inside to escape the cold and the family offers him
food and a warm blanket. After many failed attempts at contacting his
neighbours, the stranger ends up leaving with a poncho and flashlight the
family insisted he takes. A few months later Ky comes across an article
about a teenage boy who claims he was captured and experimented on by
aliens. The article sounded like what happened that night with the stranger.
In the end, Ky decides if she ever comes across him, she will whisper the
words “save the moon for Kerdy Dickus.”
Setting
The story takes place two days before Christmas, during a blizzard, at Ky’s
home. It’s dome-shaped and see-through with metal tubing.
The setting is important. If the setting was different, It would change the
story. For example, the stranger wouldn't think Ky’s home is a flying saucer.
Character
The Main Characters of this Story are:
Ky who is a Young Girl, and the daughter of Barbara, and Tan Mori.
Tan Mori, a Japanese man who wears Rimmed Glasses, and has his
hair tied like a ponytail
Barbara Mori, has silvery blonde hair, cut very short.
The Stranger, a mysterious character that doesn’t seem to really know
anything.
There isn’t an Antagonist in the story from the Narrator’s point of view, but if
we were looking at the Stranger point of view, the Mori’s would be the
Villains.
Point Of View
The Narrator is Ky’s friend, but is told from an alternating Point of View.
Near the End of the story it switches to a first person point of view where
Theme
Never judge someone differently, especially if they show you kindness.
The stranger mistook the Mori’s for aliens because they looked, and did
things differently even though they showed him hospitality and made an
effort to try and help him.
Significant Quotations
“Ky’s father, Tan Mori, built their house in the country. It’s a dome. It looks
like a glass igloo but it’s actually made of a web of light metal rubbing and a
special clear plastic.”
“Where am I?”
“More to Read?”
Why did the Stranger hear what the Mori’s were saying wrong?
