There is a fault in the reasoning in the Appendix. Equation (A6), which results from contraction of tensor indices in the
relation S/j kSklj = S mSklj is a necessary but not a sufficient condition for satisfying Slj k = S }Jl. The latter relation in fact
admits no solutions when S is a finite triadic tensor in three-dimensional space. Hence, while the beam configuration described
will permit observation of transitions with weight-O character, it will not preclude observation of other three-photon allowed
transitions.
