4. The wind velocity is 15m/s, 30° north of east. Find its northerly and easterly components. ( 3 marks )

5. Two. insulated spheres of different sizes and carrying opposite charges are connected together by a
metallic conductor. Current will flow from one sphere to other until both spheres are? ( 3 marks )

10a. A steel plug has a diameter of 6cm at 30°C. What temperature will it lift exactly into a hole of
constant diameter 4cm. Coefficient of linear expansion of steel is 10 x 10 -6/K. ( 6 marks )

b. A horizontal force of 0.9N acts on body of mass 0.5kg. There is a resistance of 0.15N opposing the first
force. What acceleration will be produced? ( 3 marks )

11a. List three effects of heat on matter and explain the following observations; A thick glass cup cracks
when boiling water is poured into it but the same cup would not crack when immersed in a bath of cold
water which is then heated to boiling point. ( 6 marks )

b. A body of mass 20kg moves with a speed of 5m/s. In a horizontal circular path of 5m. Calculate the
magnitude of the centripetal force acting on the body. ( 3 marks )

b.(i) What is the acceleration of the block and trolley system shown in the figure below if the coefficient
of kinetic friction between the trolley and the surface is 0.04? (ii) What is the tension in the string,
g=10m/s2 ( 6 marks )
