Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff:

Southside ISD considers the safety of our students and staff our top priority.
With that in mind, the district today received notice of a case of monkeypox
at Menchaca Early Childhood Center.

The District immediately acted and informed the San Antonio Metropolitan Health
District. Metro Health reports that the risk of monkeypox transmission in a
school setting is low. As recommended by Metro Health, this person will
isolate until it is safe to be around others.

In an abundance of caution we are also disinfecting the entire campus just as

we did with reported symptoms of the COVID-19 virus.

For more information on monkeypox, please visit these websites from San
Antonio Metropolitan Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention. Should a person develop monkeypox symptoms, such as lesions
or an unexplained rash, they should stay home and contact their health
provider and Metro Health. We will provide updates as appropriate on any
health-related concerns that require your attention.

Estimados Padres, Tutores, y Personal:
