Aim:
Students continue to explore calculating volume of a variety of three-dimensional shapes.
Students will apply their knowledge and what they have learnt to different questions including
questions that involve circles (cylinders).
Learning Outcomes:
As a result of actively engaging in this lesson, students will:
o Understand volume and how to calculate it.
o Understand the difference and relationship between volume and capacity.
o Know the different formulas to calculate volume.
o Know the units of measurement for capacity and volume.
o Be able to calculate the volume of a variety of 3D shapes.
o Be able to convert between units of volume and capacity.
Conclusion 15 minutes.
Booklet Quiz: Inform students that the winners will be based on
the students who get the most answers correct, not the leader
board.
Resources needed:
- Volume Workbook
- Volume formula sheet
- Capacity worksheet
