Enlightenment

‘Enlightenment’ immerges as a philosophical movement in the 17th and 18 th century, influenced by

Renaissance, and Scientific Revolution mainly. The pivotal idea of the Enlightenment was the use and
celebration of reason, the power by which humans understand the universe and improve their own
condition. From the reading of Kant and Peter, it can be said that freedom of gaining knowledge and the
ability of using own reasons freely, is Enlightenment, although there would remain a guide in this
process. In my opinion, Enlightenment leads us to ultimate freedom from unseen captivation.

Enlightenment theory made human being realize that, we are no longer going to believe anything as
true outside of us. We should have the courage of questioning remaining laws, doctrines and systems.
As we live in a community and every community makes a government of them, an individual cannot
always act as they want. So, there may have an interdependent relationship between an individual and a
society, and this combination will keep a flow in the growing of that society. This is the main purpose of
Enlightenment Theory; although there is no fixed destination human being can explore all avenues of
knowledge with the use of their rationalism for getting a better solution of life.
