1. Why is National Structural Code of the Philippines important?

The National Structural Code of the Philippines serves as framework or guidelines
that ensures public safety. Its first edition was published in 1972 to provide a primary design
code in the country in guiding civil and structural engineers in the designing and assessment
of buildings and any other structures.

2. What is the main purpose of National Building Code?

The main goal of the National Building Code is to state a policy that safeguards life,
health, property, and public welfare in line with the principles of environmental management
and control. It is also to give a framework of minimum standards and requirements to
regulate and control their location, site, design, quality of materials, construction, use,
occupancy, and maintenance.

3. What is NSCP in civil engineering?

The National Structural Code of the Ph (NSCP), established by the Association of
Structural Engineers of the Philippines (ASEP), is apparently MERELY a referral code (RC)
of the National Building Code of the Ph (NBCP). Since it is a code, it is a primary basis for
the construction, design, use, and maintenance of all buildings in the country.
However, it covers only buildings, towers, and other vertical structures, such as poles
and billboards. The NSCP lays out factors to serve as bases in designing earthquake-
resilient structure: seismic zoning, site characteristics, occupancy, configuration, structural

10. What is structural integrity and how it is achieved in steel structure?

The ability of a structure to endure its intended loading without failing owing to
fracture, deformation, or fatigue is known as structural integrity. It is a principle frequently
applied in engineering to create products that will fulfill their intended functions and continue
to work for a desired service life. Professional structural steel welding techniques, as it
ensures that a building will have a solid and robust framework, are one of the many ways to
make sure a building has exceptional structural integrity.

11. Who wrote the National Building code of the Philippines?

The said code is a law that undergo hearings with different people concerned. Listed

Public Works, Transportation, and Communications. It is published by the Department of
