FUNDAMENTALS OF BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT RESEARCH AT
HSB.

It is humbly submitted that in the times of corona pandemic when everyone is confined
to their homes, Haryana School of Business is committed to its all students including
the Ph.D. scholars. In the series of various online activities initiated, HSB proposes to
conduct one week online workshop for the research scholars pursuing their course
work. The workshop would not only help the scholars to keep abreast with the new
arenas of research in the field of business management but help them to choose a
research topic judiciously.

OBJECTIVES: To enable the participants understand the concepts related to research


and issues pertaining to ethics. To make the participants aware about the new areas of
research in the field of business management. The workshop will help the scholars
prepare the blueprint of research in the right direction.

Two Days Workshop on Advanced Statistical Analysis Techniques for Ph. D scholars
The objective of this workshop was to make research scholars acquaint with the tools and
techniques which can be beneficial for them in future. It was an introductory workshop, where
experts from the respective fields shared their knowledge to expand the horizons of budding data
analysts in field of research. The workshop constituted of 57 participants from different ares of
research in management, economics, finance, human resource and marketing.

HSB had organized 7th Annual National Conference on “Business and Management” on
February 12-13, 2015.
The conference was organized by, Dr. Tika Ram and Dr. Khujan Singh. The conference aimed at
promoting a meaningful dialog on ideas pertaining to business and management among leading
academicians, businessperson, practitioners, researchers, educators and people from different
walks- of- life. Experts from different fields of management share their experience, expertise, ideas
and innovations in addressing different business situations.

Two days Workshop on “Advanced Statistical Analysis Techniques” organized at HSB,


GJUS&T on Oct. 15-16, 2015
The statistical tools play an important role in the field of life sciences, engineering, management,
humanities and allied sciences. Recent advancement in application oriented sciences is compelling
the researchers and users for learning and understanding the statistical tools for modelling and
analysis of the data arising from their experiments. Realizing the need of the time, this workshop
focused on advanced techniques used for analyzing data.

HSB had organized 8th Annual National Conference on “Business and Management” on
February 10-11, 2016.
Dr. Deepa Mangala and Dr. Ubba Savita were the conveners of this conference. It served as a
platform wherein leading academicians, researchers, practitioners and students interact and share
their valuable experiences, ideas, innovations and researches for exploring better options to face
the ever emerging and dynamic markets. The conference aims to discuss multi-disciplinary
research ideas on Business and Management.
Workshop on ‘Effective Presentation Skills” on 10th August, 2016.
The workshop nurtures to enhance the way an individual can position themselves to articulate their
thoughts and ideas with confidence, competence, and clarity. It aimed at improving these particular
skills among management students so that they can better present themselves as and when the need
arises. All the students of HSB both final year and first year enthusiastically particip[ated in the
workshop.
One Week Workshop on Research Methodology and Data Analysis
The workshop was an effort to enrich the Research scholars in social science on research
methodology. The research methodology course for Ph.D students in social science is expected to
cover the basics of research methodology focusing on theoretical and practical inputs. Specifically
the formulation of research problem, formulation of research hypothesis and testing of hypothesis,
conducting literature review, data collection methods, selection of appropriate parametric or non-
parametric statistical method for analysing data, and report writing. The workshop constituted of
49 participants from different ares of research in management, economics, finance, human
resource and marketing
HSB had organized 9th Annual National Conference on “Business and Management” on
February 8-9, 2017.
Dr. Anju Verma and Dr. Shveta Singh were the conveners of this conference. The conference as
part of a series of annual national conferences that HSB organizes annually aimed at a meaningful
dialogue among elite academicians, researchers, practitioners, entrepreneurs and students. The
conference provided a platform to the galaxy of intellectuals to interact and share their valuable
experiences, ideas, innovations and researches for exploring better options to face the ever
emerging and dynamic markets.

One week workshop on Research Methodology and Data Analysis for research scholars, Dec.
04-09, 2017
Research is the systematic and objective process of gathering, recording and analysing data for
taking appropriate & meaningful decisions. To keep pace with the recent advancement in any
discipline, one has to be well versed with the latest developments in research methodology.
Keeping in view the importance of research methodology, this workshop aimed to explore the
basic dimensions of research and the concomitant need for participants to rethink about the
assumptions that underlie historic paradigms of research.
One-day workshop on Promotion of Research Schemes of ICSSR on August 26, 2017.
This workshop focused, on the various schemes, which provide financial assistance to researchers,
academicians or social workers who want to pursue research projects in the areas covered by ICSR.
The workshop highlighted the process of applying to various schemes of ICSR, they also discussed
about the prerequisite conditions that make an individual eligible to apply. All the information
pertaining to the funding was also discussed.
One day workshop on Self Awareness for students on 1st March, 2017 by Mr. Nishant
Mahajan, Founder, The Peoples Developers, Motivational Speaker and Consultant Trainer
This workshop specifically focused on how an individual can overcome the challenges in his life
and succeed. Mr. Nishant Mahajan described his life story to inspire and motivate students. He
also shared a few techniques to keep themselves focused. He also explained the importance of
serving sincerely in whatever field one is. As sincere efforts will always bear a fruitful end. The
workshop was zestfully attended by all the first year and final year students of MBA and M.com.
Workshop on Outcome Based Education
Outcome-Based Education (OBE) is a student-centric teaching and learning methodology in which
the course delivery, assessment are planned to achieve stated objectives and outcomes. It focuses
on measuring student performance i.e. outcomes at different levels. The workshop was attended
by 50 participants from different departments of the university. Its main focus was on specific
graduate attributes and life-long learning.
Organised Seminar on Gramin Vikas Mein Yuvaon Ka Mahattav), at SBSB Centre,
GJUS&T, Hisar
This workshop was organized, on 28 February 2017 and was attended by 100 participants. The
participants included people from all occupations specifically youths who wanted to do something
for agri- business. It focused on various methods and techniques that would bring innovation in
marketing and supply chain management of agricultural products.
HSB had organized 10th Annual National Conference on “Business and Management” on
February 8-9, 2018.
Dr. Himani Sharma and Dr. Mani Shreshtha were the conveners of the 10th Annual national
conference organized by HSB in 2018. It aimed at communication and collaboration on the issues
pertaing to business and management among elite academicians, researchers, practitioners,
entrepreneurs and students. It also intends to promote professional interaction and lifelong
learning.
HSB had organized 11th Annual National Conference on “Business and Management” on
February 7-8, 2019
Professor Pardeep Gupta and Professor Anil Kumar were the conference conveners of the 11 th
national conference on business and management organized by HSB. It aimed at communication
and collaboration on the issues pertaining to business and management among elite academicians,
researchers, practitioners, entrepreneurs and students. It also intends to promote professional
interaction and lifelong learning.
Two Days Workshop (February 22-23, 2019) on Data Analysis with E-views.
This workshop educated 60 budding researchers in the field of finance and economics by making
them aware of the features of EViews software specifically used for time series analysis. They
were given hands-on training for this software by providing dummy data to be used by the
participants for understanding the nuances of the software.
One week workshop on Research Methodology and Data Analysis for research scholars from
Dec. 12-18, 2019.
The workshop was designed to offer the participants a hands-on approach to conduct research. On
completion of the workshop, participants are likely to have developed the skills to review the
literature, develop hypotheses, frame research design, identify sampling techniques and
comprehend the role and relevance of the tools for data collection analysis and report writing. The
five-day workshop will expose the participants to brief theoretical as well as practical inputs. The
participants were expected to bring their research problem & data if they wish to work on specific
problem during the workshop and at the end they will be able to analyse data independently.

Organised Webinar at HSB on Sectoral outlook in Indian Industry: Post Covid-19 scenario.
HSB organized a webinar on Sectoral outlook of Indian Industry in the post COVID Scenario. The
main focus of the webinar was to highlight how the face of Indian Industry has changed, what
innovative steps have been taken by the various sectors to combat the pandemic era.
Organised 4th workshop on SSB for Defence aspirants’ students of GJUS&T, Hisar
A workshop for students who want to join defense services was organized by HSB, Which aimed
at making them educated towards the requirements that are necessary to be part of the esteemed
services and serve the country whole heartedly. It also provided a holistic view of the gamut of
services that are their and how students as per their interest can choose and work towards it.
HSB had organized 13th Annual National Conference on “Business and Management” on
February 11-12, 2021.
Prof. Tilak Sethi and Dr. Vanita Ahlawat were the conveners of the 12th national conference on
business and management organized by HSB. It aimed at communication and collaboration on the
issues pertaining to business and management among elite academicians, researchers,
practitioners, entrepreneurs and students. It also intends to promote professional interaction and
lifelong learning.
Haryana School of Business, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar
organized a one-week workshop on Research Methodology titled “Research Methodology and
Data Analysis” from 13th September 2021 to 17th of September, 2021. The main purpose of the
workshop was to enhance the knowledge of Ph.D. students regarding the fundamentals of research
methodology. The Chief Guest in the inaugural session was Prof. B. R. Kamboj, Vice-Chancellor
of GJUS&T, and the Guest of Honour was Prof. Avnesh Verma, Registrar of the university. For
effective learning, experts from outside in this field were invited for sharing their knowledge
regarding research methodology, namely, Dr. Ajay Chauhan, Dr. Atul Shiva, Dr. Ajay Bhagasra,
and Dr. Manoj Diwaker. Along with this, reputed faculty members of Haryana School of Business
were also invited to share their knowledge, namely, Prof. S.C. Kundu, Prof. V.K. Bishnoi and Prof.
M.C Garg. The key topics covered in the workshop were PLS-SEM, Mediation, Moderation, Panel
Data analysis, e-views, and other related topics concerned with research. The workshop showed a
good response and was attended by 82 participants from various institutions.
