Learning Area: Physics
Date: September 26, 2022-CLASSES SUSPENDED
SEPTEMBER 28, 2022

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards
The Learners demonstrate an understanding of:
►heat and temperature, and the effects of heat on the body

B. Performance Standards
The Learners should be able to…
►perform activities on Heat and Temperature

C. Learning Competencies
The Learners should be able to…
► Differentiate between heat and temperature at the molecular level S8FE -Ig- 29

Specific Objectives
Given the necessary materials, 80% of the students should be able to:
a. Define heat and temperature.
b. Differentiate heat and temperature at the molecular level.
c. Explain the effects of heat and temperature on a body.

II. CONTENT (Subject Matter)

Heat and Temperature

III. LEARNING RESOURCES

IV. PROCEDURES

A. ELICIT / Reviewing previous Lesson or presenting the new lesson

Ask the students, Who here enjoys a hot cup of coffee or chocolate in the morning? Who enjoys hot baths
before going to school? Who prefers to have iced-cold drinks and cold showers?
Students may answer through show of hands. We may enjoy different things and have different routines but
there is a Science that goes behind it.

B. ELICIT / Establishing a purpose for the lesson

● The teacher will show an illustration and students will share their observations.

● Why does ice cream melt when taken out of the freezer?

C. ENGAGE / Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1

● Students will be asked, When we talk about heat, what comes to your mind? Did you know
that heat and temperature are different things?

D. EXPLORE / Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2

● Students will watch a video clip regarding heat and temperature.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8d9ChbTfgQ

E. EXPLAIN / Developing Mastery (leads to formative assessment)

● Students will be shown an illustration and will observe how heat is transferred.

F. EXTEND / Finding practical applications of concepts and Skills in daily living

● How can we use the concept of heat and temperature in our daily lives?

G. ELABORATE / Making Generalization & abstractions about the lesson

● Suppose that you have a glass of ice and you pour some water in it, what do you think will happen?
Will the water get cold or will the water transfer some of its hest to the ice?

H. EVALUATE / Evaluating Learning

Choose the letter of the best answer. On a separate sheet of paper, write
the letter of your choice.
1. Which of the following energy transfers would be correct?
A. Thermal energy in a hot drink is transferred to cold hands.
B. Thermal energy is transferred from a room to be heated to a heater.
C. An ice cube loses thermal energy when it melts in hot lemonade.
D. Thermal energy is lost by a match when it is lit.
2. Which of the following is NOT true?
A. Heat transfer is always from cooler to warmer materials.
B. Heat transfer is always from warmer to cooler materials.
C. When there is heat transfer, one body releases energy and another absorbs
that energy.
D. A change in the temperature of a material indicates heat transfer.
3. Which statement best describes temperature?
A. The hotness or coldness of a material.
B. The measure of the average kinetic energy of particles in a substance.
C.The energy absorbed by a material.
D.The energy given off by a material.

I. EXTEND / Additional activities for application or remediation

Answer the activities that will be posted in Google Classroom.
