This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also aims to help
learners acquire the needed 21st century skills while taking into consideration their
needs and circumstances.
As a facilitator, you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this module.
You also need to keep track of the learners' progress while allowing them to manage
their own learning. Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and assist the learners
as they do the tasks included in the module.
1. Use the module with care. Do not put unnecessary mark/s on any part of the
module. Use a separate sheet of paper in answering the exercises.
2. Don’t forget to answer What I Know before moving on to the other activities
included in the module.
3. Read the instruction carefully before doing each task.
4. Observe honesty and integrity in doing the tasks and checking your answers.
5. Finish the task at hand before proceeding to the next.
6. Return this module to your teacher/facilitator once you are through with it.
If you encounter any difficulty in answering the tasks in this module, do not hesitate
to consult your teacher or facilitator. Always bear in mind that you are not alone.
We hope that through this material, you will experience meaningful learning
and gain deep understanding of Using divisibility rules for 2,3,5,6,9 and 10 to find the
common factors of numbers.
You can do it!

What I Need to Know
This module was designed and written with you in mind. It is here to help
you master more topics in number theory. You will learn about factors and multiples. You
will also learn what prime and composite numbers are. The scope of this module permits
it to be used in many different learning situations. The language used recognizes the
diverse vocabulary level of students. The lessons are arranged to follow the standard
sequence of the course. But the order in which you read them can be changed to
correspond with the textbook you are now using.
What I Know
Choose the letter of the best answer. Write the chosen letter on a separate
sheet of paper.
1. Which of the following numbers are exactly divisible by 2, 5, and 10?
A. 160 B. 204 C. 315 D. 438
7. Jonilyn has 150 beads for making bracelets. If there are 10 beads in 1
bracelet. How many bracelets can she make?
A. 15 B. 20 C. 24 D. 25
4
Lesson
Use divisibility rules for 2, 5, and 10 to find the
1.1 common factors of numbers.
In this lesson your multiplication skill is needed and being developed. At the end
of this module you can already find the common factors of numbers easily
What’s In
Jaira has 70 collected stamps. Can she share that equally to 2 friends? 5
Friends? 10 friends?
To solve the problem, you need to know if 2, 5, and 10 are factors of 70 or if 70 is
divisible by 2, 5, and 10.
To see if the number is divisible by 2, 5 or 10, test by checking the ones digit
DIVISIBILITY TEST 70
By 2: Is the ones digit 0,2,4,6 or 8?
By 5: Is the ones digit 0 or 5?
By 10: Is the ones digit 0?

Divisibility Rules
1. Divisibility rules for 2,5, and 10
How do we know if a number is divisible by 2, 5, or 10?
1.1 Divisibility rule for 2
A number is divisible by 2 if the ones digit of the number is 2, 4, 6,
8, 0.
5
Example:
Is 238 divisible by 2?
Yes, because the ones digit, which is 8, is divisible by 2,
Therefore, 238 is divisible by 2.

What’s In
The Officials of Barangay Duyay are setting up the hall for the Social
Amelioration Program (SAP) distribution. There are a total of 108 chairs which they
have to arrange in either rows of 3, 6 or 9. Which are the possible arrangements of the
chairs?
To solve the problem, you need to know if 3, 6 or 9 are factors of 108 or if 108
is divisible by 3, 6 or 9.
What is the divisibility rule for 3?
What is the divisibility rule for 6?
What is the divisibility rule for 9?
What’s New
11
The rule for 6:
The prime factors of 6 are 2 and 3.
So for a number to be divisible by 6, it must also be divisible by 2 and 3.
Therefore, you need to check if a number is even and then check if the sum of
the digits is divisible by 3.
108 is divisible by 2 and 3.
Therefore, 108 is divisible by 6.
Since 108 is divisible by 3, 6, and 9, the Barangay Officials can arrange the
chairs in either rows of 3, 6, or 9.
