GUIDE
Westglades Middle School is dedicated to
providing students with innovative
educational programs, infused with
technology in a safe, secure environment
to ensure success for all. The school-wide
positive behavior guide addresses school-
wide behaviors and is designed to improve
school climate here at Westglades Middle
School.
The expectations of our Westglades

Rules for Behavior Management System
1. Walk in the hallways because
running causes disruption and
possible injuries.
2. Keep hands, feet, and other objects
to yourself because it prevents
injuries and confrontations.
3. Arrive on time and prepared
because classroom instruction
begins on time.
4. Use proper positive language and
be polite because this shows
respect to others and yourself.
5. Adhere to all BCPS policies
including COVID/Mask protocols

A.M. -3: 45 P.M.).
Class Rules and Consequences
Inappropriate student behavior as noted in the
Broward County Student Code of Conduct
will result in a teacher consequence.
An administrative referral requires a minimum
of 3 prior behavioral interventions that
includes but is not limited to:
Verbal warning, seat change, time out, parent
notification letter, student conference, parent
teacher conference and parent email. The final
intervention before submitting the referral
MUST BE parent contact via phone call.
Students that accumulate four unexcused
tardies or more per quarter will be referred to
administration.
Referrals to administration will result in
consequences as per the Broward County
Public Schools Discipline Matrix.
ESE students will be held responsible for their
actions. Their consequences will be the same
as mainstream students, except where
otherwise indicated by an IEP, school board
policy, or state law.
The following student behaviors require an
immediate referral to administration and are
precluded from the 3 behavioral interventions
listed above. They include:
Threats Aggressive Behavior
Tobacco Battery or fighting
Skipping Truancy
Drugs-Alcohol Bullying
Vandalism Sexual Offenses
Weapons Sexual Comments
Profanity Sexual Gestures
Theft Gross Insubordination
Abolish Bullying: Respect is Key
The School Board of Broward County has
implemented an Anti-Bullying Policy.
Faculty, staff, students, and parents will
receive information and training relevant
to the new policy.
Bullying is a repeated, intentional, hurtful,
action against someone who has less
power.
Under this new policy, students, as well as
adults, will be asked to report any
incidents of bullying to administration.
The “No Blame Approach” will allow
reporters to detail situations without fear
of retribution or stigma. All grade level
offices will have bullying statement forms
available. In addition, there will be an
Anonymous Reporting Box located in the
Media Center.
That is a lot of information. To keep it
simple, we can help determine if a
behavior is bullying by using the
following acronym.

P - purposeful
Consequences for confirmed bullying will
include referrals, interventions, and/or
disciplinary action as outlined by the
Student Code of Conduct, Discipline
Matrix, school board policies and any
collective bargaining agreements.
