School among Banana Growers in the Selected Municipalities of
Cotabato Province. Master’s Thesis. Graduate School, University of

Educating farmers through Farm Business School aims to capacitate

their entrepreneurial and managerial skills through a learning-by-doing

approach. This study focused on the economic benefits of farm business

school among banana growers of Pres. Roxas and Tulunan. The independent

variables were the characteristics of the respondents, the level of farmers’

participation, the adequacy of support services, while the dependent variable

was the economic benefits of Farm Business School. Descriptive research

design and correlation research design were applied. The respondents of the

study were all of the participants with a total population of 86. Thus, complete

enumeration was applied and data were collected through administering

survey questionnaire. The gathered data were analyzed using descriptive

statistical tools and ordered logistic regression. Results revealed that average

of the respondents are age 53 who have been into farming for 24 years in a

0.77 hectares of land and earning an annual gross income of Php 143,139.50.

Most (35%) of the respondents were high school graduates. Majority (99%) of

the respondents have completed 25 modules and attended 25 sessions.

Respondents agreed on the adequacy of support services and economic

benefits of Farm Business School. Results of the ordered logistic regression

analysis showed that only the number of modules completed and the number

of meetings/sessions attended resulted to a significant value of 0.00 at 1%

level of significance. This concludes that the level of farmers’ participation

significantly influences the economic benefits of Farm Business School.

Hence, the hypothesis is rejected.
