PURPOSE OF THE RISK MANAGEMENT PLAN

The Security of Tourists is one of the greatly agreed perceived risks revealed in the study
conducted by Buendia, et al (2022) entitled “REVISIT INTENTION OF DOMESTIC TRAVELERS IN POCTOY
WHITE BEACH, MARINDUQUE DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC TOWARDS AN EFFECTIVE RISK
MANAGEMENT”.

A risk is an event or condition that, if it occurs, could have a positive or negative effect on the
overall image of the beach. Risk Management is the process of identifying, assessing, responding to,
monitoring, and reporting risks. This Risk Management Plan defines how risks associated with the
Poctoy White Beach will be identified, analyzed, and managed. It outlines how risk management
activities will be performed, recorded, and monitored throughout the operations of Poctoy White
Beach.

The Risk Management Plan is created by the researchers from Centro Escular University. The
intended audience of this document is the management of Poctoy White Beach.

RISK MANAGEMENT PROCEDURE

PROCESS
The researchers on Poctoy White Beach will ensure that risks are actively identified, analyzed, and
managed. Risks will be identified as early as possible in the project so as to minimize their impact. The
steps for accomplishing this are outlined in the following sections. The Management will serve as the
Risk Manager for this project.

RISK IDENTIFICATION
Risk identification will involve the management of the Poctoy White Beach from the owner down to the
labor helpers. It will also include an evaluation of the effects of the Risk Management Plan for further
improvements on the Risk Management Plan. Careful attention will be given to the implementation and
evaluation on the presence of the Risk in Security.

RISK ANALYSIS
The risk in security will be assessed to identify the range of possible outcomes. Qualifications will be
used to determine which risks are the top risks to pursue and respond to and which risks are negligible.

Impact:
Low (orange) – Risk can be dealt with by a local security officer.
Moderate (Yellow) – Intervention by the Philippine National Police is needed.
High (Red) – Intervention by the Philippine National Police is needed, and a judge will preside over the
verdict.
RISK RESPONSE PLANNING

For each major risk (those falling in the red and yellow zones) will be assigned to a member of the
administration for monitoring purposes to ensure the risk will not be overlooked.
One of the following approaches will be selected to address the major risks:
 Steer Clear – avoid the threat be avoiding the cause of the threat. In order to avoid major risks,
screening for the guests must be done before accepting a reservation.
 Lessen – Identify ways to reduce the impact of the risk by prioritizing the safety of the tourists
and their belongings by having maximum security possible on the hotel rooms.
 Record – put the incident in record and an intervention by the management will be done.
Keeping a log of the risks will be much helpful for the future generations of managers in the
Poctoy White Beach.
 Outsource – Transfer the responsibility for the risk to other entity. One way in doing so is hiring
an insurance company to offer traveler’s insurance to.

RISK MONITORING AND REPORTING

The level of risk of security in Poctoy White Beach will be monitored and reported for a whole year and
will be subjected to revisions based on the observed risks. An intervention cycle will be designed based
on the outcomes of the Management Plan. All changes will be analyzed for the possible impact to the
perceived risks. The management will be notified of the important changes to the status of the risks as a
part of the Implementation of the Risk Monitoring.
