TRIP SHEET INSTRUCTIONS (SI Units)

Column 1: This is the stand list as numbered when racked in the derrick. Record single stands for the first 5
stands under normal circumstances. Then record every 5 stands.

Column 2: Note the trip tank gauge reading. The difference in reading after an increment will be the measured
amount of mud used to fill the hole for that increment.

Column 3: The displacement of the number of stands for one increment.

Column 4: Actual measured amount of mud used to fill the hole for that increment.

Column 5: Cumulative sum of numbers in column 4.

Column 6: Results of subtraction of column 3 from column 4. A negative number here may indicate the hole
did not take enough mud (possible swabbing). A positive number may indicate the hole took
too much mud (losses).

Column 7: Cumulative sum of the numbers in column 6. This column gives the total amount of fluid swabbed
into the hole or the total losses since the beginning of the trip.
