FEEDBACK AND APPLICATION TO THE CONTROL OF LIQUID LEVEL CONTROL

SYSTEM

INTRODUCTION
A feedback system is a system where the sampled output signal is fed back into the
input to form an error signal that drives the system.
This unit includes a water feeding tank, an additional tank, two pumps and a set of
instruments suitable to detect the main operating characteristics of the pumps.
The unit allows us to manually control the liquid level of a system

G1 is ON while G2 is OFF.
The angle of the valve V12 is maintained at 15degrees
The angle of valve V7 is varied to maintain the liquid level in D2 at a steady state
while taking measurements form LG1

OBSERVATION
Reducing the angle of the valve reduces the flow rate hence decreasing the amount
of liquid leaving tank D1 to D2.

EXPLANATION OF THE SYSTEM

The main aim possessed by these systems is to control the rate with which the pump
delivers fluid to the tank and so it can reach the desired level inside the tank.
The system is manual so the operator needs to be present in order to control the
liquid level by taking readings from the sensors.
The operator compare the actual level with the desired level and opens or closes the
valves hereby adjusting the fluid flow to maintain the desired level in the tank.
G1 is a synchronous motor which is used to control the flow rate while G2 is an
asynchronous motor.
The valves are used to control the amount of fluid that flows from one tank to
another.
In order to obtain the desired level, the liquid is either sent to tank D1 or tank D2
based on the measurement taken from the liquid level sensor in the tanks.

The system can be used to control the flow rate of water in water companies and to
control the level of different liquids in brewery companies
