Music's elements can be thought of as its building blocks. Music would cease to exist if these
elements are not present, as sound would cease to exist without them. To compare it to a car, think of
music's constituent parts as the critical components. A car must have wheels, an engine, brakes,
doors, a chassis, a steering wheel, and so on in order to function correctly.
Understanding the musical elements will assist you to comprehend any piece of music, whether
you are attempting to perform the piece or simply analyze it. If we understand the fundamental
components of a car, we can use them to compare every car in the world, from a Ferrari to a pickup
truck, by asking a few simple questions such as: "What is the size of the engine?; "How many wheels
does it have?”; “Is it a bright red in color?”
In the same manner, we can grasp any piece of music by asking questions like: “What is the
tempo?”; “How loud is it?”; “What key is it in?”; “What instruments are playing?”
