Harihara and Bukka, who served as treasury officers of the Kakatiyas of Warangal,
founded the Vijayanagara Empire.[71] In 1347 CE, an independent Muslim state, the

Yanam, in the Godavari delta, and (save for periods of British control) would hold
it until 1954. In 1947, Vizianagaram was the largest Hindu princely state in Andhra
Pradesh.
