EXPLAIN THE FOLLOWING ITEMS BELOW (IN RELATION TO CAMPUS JOURNALISM):

1) WATCHDOG FUNCTION

Answer: Role. In the course of their work, watchdog journalists gather information about wrongdoings
of people in power and deliver it to the public so the public can understand what happens in society and
stop wrongdoings.

2) DEVELOPMENTAL FUNCTION

Answer: Developmental functions aid in the orderly growth. and change of established political,
economic, or social institutions. System change. challenges significant values and elements in the social
structure, including distribu- tion of wealth and power.

3) DOCUMENTARY FUNCTION

Answer: Renov (1993) in his theorizing about documentary forms makes a distinction between four
fundamental functions of documentary films: to record, reveal, and preserve; to persuade or promote;
to analyze and interrogate; and to express.

4) CODE OF CONDUCT

Answer: A journalist:

At all times upholds and defends the principle of media freedom, the right of freedom of expression and
the right of the public to be informed. Strives to ensure that information disseminated is honestly
conveyed, accurate and fair. Does her/his utmost to correct harmful inaccuracies.

5) ENVELOPMENTAL JOURNALISM

Answer: Envelope journalism (also envelopmental journalism, red envelope journalism, white envelope
journalism, Ch'ongi, wartawan amplop) is a colloquial term for the practice of bribing corrupt journalists
for favorable media coverage.

Declaration if martial law during the term of late president Marcos. All media are controlled under the
Marcos government. Meaning they are limited on what they are reporting during that time. If the media
report about things against the Marcos government they are automatically shut down and subject for
harassment. Freedom of mass media are limited during that time. In order fir the press to release their
report it needed to submit first to the president before releasing it of what the president so called
truth.Marcos controlled people's access and the kind of information they got and made sure he has the
final say on his so-called truth.
