Carefully disconnect the ‘hree-pin connector between the ‘command input device and the EP Control electronics module by releasing the connector latches. “Thoroughly clean the outside of the EP Control and surrounding puma surface, Step 2 Disconnect the fourain connector between the EP Control electronic ‘module and the solencid cas. Caution must be used when ‘disconnecting these connectors as, ‘they are latcied with keepers. ‘Step 3 Using a 1/2" bit socket or hex key, remove the three 10.24 button head cap screws and - lockwashers, oo . Service & Repair E-PUP-TSOO2E September 2002 Repair & Service Stop 4 The solenoid cols can be removed by turning each solenoid tube knob counterclockwise, Remove the knob and associated O-ing. Slide the cal off the tube subassembly. Repeat for other col Note: Each coll is stamped with a position number "I" and "2" and the voltage "12V" or "24V" There ae also numbers stamped on the valve assembiy indicating positions #1 and #2. When reassembling the cals, the stamped coil numbers and position numbers must match. Rotor to page 3. Step 5 Using 2 3/4 open-end wrench, remove each tube subassembly by turing counterclockwise {f only replacing the coils and tube subassemblies, skip to Reassembiy, Step 11 Step 6 Using a 1/2" socket or end wrench, remove the six 5/16%18 hex hesd retaining bolts, Carefuly it the valve assembly Upward and slide it away from the ‘pump to disengage the control feedback link from the swashplate link [EATON EF Control for Heavy Duty Saris Piston Pumps. Step 8 In most cases it will not be necessary to remove the control ‘oftions that are staked in the pump housing. Only remove ifthe oifce ‘size needs to be changed. The ‘oftice size is stamped on the fat plate offices in the pressure and Servo-1 ports. If there is an ofice in the servo? port itis a threaded ‘serawin orifice Step 9 Clean the control mounting surface. Install a new control valve gasket by aligning with bolt and porting holes EATON EF Contiol for Heavy Duty Series 01 Piston Pumps. Serice & Rapsir EPUPE-TSOO2E Soptamber 2002 Repair & Service ‘Step 10 Carefully install the EP Control valve ‘assembly on the pump housing, Using 2 sideways motion to insert the feedback link into the swash- plate link and aligning the control Replace and hand tighten the six 5/1618 hex head bolts Note: There are three different fetaining bolt lengths. Refer to page 3 for proper placement. Step 11 Locate the new solenoid tube and ‘coll subassemblies. Each solenoid ‘ube subassembly comes with new O-rings. The tube subassemblies eecangebae has en! ‘rawing on page 3 for detail, Step 12 Using 2 3/4" open-end wrench, intstall each tube subassembly by turing clockwise. Torque the solenoid tubes to 2022 lot. Install the two solenoid coils. Torque the bolts to Webrh. Note: There are three sitferent bolt lengths. Refer to page 3 for proper placement. Step 15 Neutral Adjustment Caution: All hoses and fitings must Be connected, and the. pump ready for operation before attempting to check neutral adjustment. Electrical wiring harnesses forthe solenoid coils and command input should be left disconnected while adjusting neutral ‘A Disengage the input drive to Vehicle of elevate wheels, B. Use a 9/16" end ‘wrench to hold the locking ‘ut while rotating the neutral adjustment screw. E. Note the number stamped on the cap of the low pressure relief valve, 022 is 220 psig (15 bar, -030 is 305 psig (21 ‘etc, This will be the high setting, Setings can vary from 220 psig 18 bar to 410 psig (28 ban F.Slowiy rotate the neutral adjustment screw clockwise Luni charge pressure drops to its low setting. Mark the neutral adjustment screw location, Note: The charge pressure low setting is usually 40-60 psig lower than the high setting, {G. Rotate the neutral adjustment sorew counterclockwise. The charge pressure wil rise Continue turning counter clockwise unti the pressure drops again to its low setting Mark the neuval adjustment serew location H. Rotate the neutral adjustment screw to the position between the two marks, |. Carefully hold adustment screw while torquing locknut. Torque locknut to 1021 loft Neutral adjustment is completed. Connect the ‘command! input device tothe three- pin connector on the EP Control electronic module. Stop 21 Connect the electrical power ‘Source to the two-pin connector on the EP Control electronic module. Install a 3 amp SLO-BLO" fuse. Refer to Interconnect Schematic on page 13. Recheck your work and then reconnect the power to the vehicle or system, Step 22 ‘The pump is now ready to return to operation. Disconnect the two-pin connector from the power supply to the Direction Connection, or EP Control electronic module. Inspect the two connectors for corrosion, loose wires oF Loose Wires broken wires. Measure the DC voltage arose pins "A’ and °B" at the connector. The feading should be between 9 to 30 Vac ‘Command Signal Missing ‘Check Command Input Signal. Disconnect the three-pin connector from the command input device to the EP Control electronic module. Inspect the two connectors for corosion, loose contacts, loose wires and broken wires. If 1-6 Vdc joystick or potentiometer is used, measure the DC voltage across pins “A” and “B" at the connector. Move the joystick or potentiometer position. The voltage reading ‘wil be approximately 2.5 volts OC at joystick neutral or the half range position of the potentiometer. The DC voltage will be approximately 5 volts at one end of the joystick or potentiometer travel. At the opposite and of travel the DC voltage will be approximately If 24-20 mA eurrent loop input is used, maasure the DC voltage across pins A’ and "B' at the connector. The DC voltage reading should be approximately zero at zero input cur Tent which occurs at command input neutral. The DC voltage reading should be approxi ‘mately 5 volts for input command currents of +20 ma respectively. Defective Solenoid Coil ‘Check Solenaid Coil. Disconnect the two-pin power supply and the three-pin command input device connectors from the EP Control electronic module. Inspect the connectors {or corrosion, loose contacts, loose wires and broken wires. Remove the EP Control ‘electronic module. Refer to instructions on page 5. Disconnect the two mating fourpin ‘connectors. Measura the ool resistance across the designated pins atthe solenoid fourpin connecter. Refer to the Solenoid 4-pin Connector chart on page 18 for typical readings, Defective Electronic Module ‘Check Electionic Modula. Disconnect the tworpin power supply and the three-pin ‘Sommandl input device connectors from the EP Control electronic module. Inspect the ‘connectors for corrosion, loose contacts, loose wires and broken wires. Remove the EP Control electronic module. Refer to instructions on page 5. Caution: The engine or ‘motor driving the pump should not be running. Connect command input deviee and ower to the madula. Measure the current tothe col at the fourpin connector. Activate ‘the input device end to end and at neutral. Monitor the current on one col, and then on the other. Refer to Command Input Device chart on page 18 for typical readings, Manual Overide Does Not Function ‘Check Manual Override, Disconnect two-pin power supply and the three-pin command input device connectors from the EP Control electronie module. Inspect the connectors {or corrosion loose contacts, loose wires and broken wires. Remove the valve assembly Refer to instructions on page 6. Use a small Philips screwdriver to push on the manual ‘override of the solenoid tube's solenoid tube actuator pin Flow Only in One Direction ‘Command Signal incorrect ‘Check Command Input Signal. Disconnect the three-pin command input device ‘connector from the EP Control elactronie module. Inspect the two connectors for Corrosion, loose contacts, loose wires and broken wires. If 1-8 Vdc joystick or potentiometer is used, measure the DC voltage across pins “A” and “B" at the connector. Move the joystick or potentiometer position. The voltage reading ‘wil be approximately 2.5 volts OC at joystick neutral or the half range position of the potentiometer. The DC voltage will be approximately 5 volts at one end of the joystick or potentiometer travel. Inspect the connectors for corrosion, loose contacts, loose wires and broken wires. Remove the EP Control electronic module. Refer to instructions on page 5. Disconnect the two mating fourpin connectors, Measure the col resistance across the designated pins atthe solenoid faurpin connector. Refer to the Solenoid 4-ain Connector chart an page 18 for typical readings, Detective Solenoid Check Solenoid Tube Subassembly. Disconnect the tworpin power supply and the Tube Subessembly _three-pin command input device connectors from the EP Control electronic module. Inspect the connectors for corrasion, loose contacts, loose wires and broken wires. Remove the two solenoid tube subassemblies. Visually inspect the actuator pin in the tube subassembly. The pin should be free to move. Detective CChesk Electronic Madule. Disconnect the tivo-pin power supply and the three-pin Electronic Module command input device connectors from the EP Control electronic module. Inspect the connectors for corrosion, loose contacts, loose wires and broken wires. Remove the EP Control electronic module. Refer to instructions on page 8, Caution: The engine or ‘motor driving the pump should nat be running. Connect command input device and power supply to the electronic module, Measure the current to the col atthe fourpin Connector. Activate the input device end to end and at neutral. Monitor the current on ‘one cal, and then on the other, Refer to Command Input Device chart on page 18 for typical readings. Flow in Neutral ‘Command Signal Check Command Input Signal. Disconnect the three-pin command input device Incorrect Connector from the EP Control electronic module. Inspect the two connectors for corrosion, loose contacts, loose wires and broken wires, If 1-6 Vdc joystick or potentiometer is used, messure the DC voltage across pins “A” and 'B” at the connector. Move the joystick of potentiometer position. The voltage reading will be approximately 25 volts DC at joystick neutral or the haif range position of the potentiometer. The DC voltage will be approximately 5 volts at one end of the joystick or potentiometer travel. At the opnosite end of travel the DC voltage will be approximately If 24.20 mA current loop input is used, measure the DC voltage across pins “A” and "B’ at the connector. The DC voltage reading should be approximately zero at zero input cur Tent which occurs at command input neutral. The DC voltage reading should be approx- mately #5 volts for input command currents of #20 mA respectively Neutral Out of ‘Check Neutral Adjustment. Disconnect the two-pin power supply and the three-pin Adjustment ‘Command input device connectors from the EP Control electronic madule. Inspect the connectors for corrosion, loose contacts, loose wires and broken wires. Remove the EP Control electronic module. Refer to instiuctions on page 6. Disconnect the two fourpin solenoid connectors. Follow instructions for satting neutral on page 10 Step 15, Flow Limited, ‘Command Signal Check Command Input Signal. Disconnect the three-pin command input device Cannot Achieve Incorrect Conneator from the EP Control electronic module. Inspact the two connectors for Full Pump Stroke corrosion, loose contacts, loose wires and broken wires, If 1.6 Vde joystick or potantiometer is used, measure the DC voltage across pins “k” and 'B” atthe connector. Move the joystick of potentiometer position. The voltage reading will be approximately 2.5 volts DC at joystick neutral or the half range position of the potentiometer, The DC voltage will be approximately 5 volts at one end of the joystick or potentiometer travel. At the opposite end of travel the OC voltage wil be approximately If 24-20 mA current loop input is used, measure the DC voltage across pins “A and 'B” at the connector. The DC veltage reading should be approximately 20r0 at 20 input current which occurs at command input neutral. Inepect the Full Pump Stroke ‘connectors for corrosion, loose contacts, loose wires and broken wires. Remove the (con't) EP Control electronic module. Refer to instructions on page 8. Caution: The engine or motor driving the pump should nat be running. Connect command input device and power supply to the electronic module, Measure the current to the cal atthe fourpin ‘connector. Activate the inaut device end to end and at neutral. Monitor the current on ‘one coll, and then on the other. Refer to Command Input Device chart on page 18 for typical readings. Manual Overide oes Not Function ‘Check Manual Override. Disconnect the two-pin power supply and the three-pin ‘command input device connectors from the EP Control electronic module. Inspect the Connectors for corrosion loase contacts, loose wires and broken wires. Remove the valve assembly. Refer to instructions on page 6. Move the joystick or potentiometer position. The voltage reading ‘wil be approximately 2.5 volts DC at joystick neutral or the half range position of the potentiometer. The DC voltage will be approximately 5 volts at one end of the joystick or potentiometer travel. At the opposite end af tavel the DC voltage will be aparoximately If 24-20 mA current loop input is used, measure the DC voltage across pins “A” and "B {at the connector. The DC voltage reading should be approximately zero at zer0 input cur- Fent which occurs at command input neutral.
