i =−1, and every complex number has the form a+bi where a and b are real
numbers.

Universal Design This Kahoot lesson is a great way to use an SRT to get all students involved.
Rationale Firstly, you can access the SRT on a mobile device, tablet, or computer. This
allows multiple ways for students to get onto the Kahoot. All students are able
to engage by reading the question on the board and responding with which
answer choice they believe is right on their phone. It could easily be
converted to paper or translated for students who might need these tools. In
addition, it can be anonymous or not depending on what the goal is for the
teacher. This makes it easier for all students to want to participate and
engage. Lastly, students receive immediate feedback on their answer, which
allows them to self-regulate on the material.
Lesson Idea - Prior Prior to the SRT tool, this introductory lesson would have been a quick slide
review, along with a quick written response. The students would have
answered similar questions on paper regarding the different types of number
sets.
SRAT Purpose This SRAT is designed to assess students’ previous knowledge. This is a
quick informal assessment to assess students’ knowledge on number sets.
This SRAT allows for a quicker and more engaging ways to assess what
students remember regarding these number sets. I can see what the class
understands and what misinterpretations they might have been. This will
allow for later differentiation and review as needed.
Question Types The question types are all multiple choice. Some are true/false, all that apply
or best answer. These types of question work best for this specific platform
and review.

Lesson Idea - During The students will go to kahoot.it and sign into our specific quiz. After doing
this, they will pick their screen name. Once all students have signed in, then
they will begin the review. Students choose the answer they believe fits best
in the time that is given. Once all students have answered, they will get
immediate feedback and see the leader board. Once that has happened, they
will move on to the next question as a whole group.
The teacher will set up the Kahoot and display the class code. Once all
students are in, then the teacher will start the Kahoot. During this time, the
teacher can read the question/answer choices aloud and monitor student
progress. Once the correct answer is shown, the teacher can then address
any misconceptions or questions that the student might have.
Students will only need a mobile device, computer, or tablet to accesses the
Kahoot. This activity should like around 10-15 minutes and is a great starting
activity for students.
Lesson Idea - After This SRAT activity will wrap up with the students seeing the leader board.
After seeing the leader board, the teacher now knows where the students are
in regards to previous information and can remediate as needed. After this
activity, students will then go on to expand the number sets to include
complex numbers.
Data Plan The data that is collected from this activity will be used to assess what
material needs to be recovered. The data that is collected will be what each
student response to the question was, which helps understanding what
misconceptions students have. The students will see this information, which
will help them learn and see what they need to review.
Personal Learning I am trying out using Kahoot as a form of data collection. I have used it simply
Goals for students to review with, but not for data collection. I hope to learn how to
use Kahoot to gather data, and how to use it to show students what previous
knowledge they need for this unit.
Design Reflection I believe that this activity can help students feel comfortable engaging and
have a fun time learning. With students being engaged through competition, it
is easy to gage knowledge of the whole class and to aid all students as
needed. This activity will also impact student knowledge as the data collected
will help with differentiation. This lesson is an introductory lesson and could
be furthered by using a different platform to have student’s answer via short
answers.
