MATHEMATICS (BASIC) CLASS - X
TIME - 3 Hours Maximum Marks - 80

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

1. This question paper contains two parts A and B


2. Both part A and B have internal choices.
Part – A:

1. It consists of two sections –I and II


2. Section I has 16 questions. Internal choice is provided in 5 questions
3. Section II has four case study based questions. Each case study has 5 case-based
sub parts. An examinee is to attempt any four out of 5 sub-parts.
Part – B:

1. Question No 21 to 26 are Very short answer Type questions of 2 marks each,


2. Question No 27 to 33 are Short Answer Type questions of 3 marks each,
3. Question No 34 to 36 are Long Answer Type questions of 5 marks each.
4. Internal choice is provided in 2 questions of 2 marks, 2 question of 3 marks and
1 question of 5 marks

19. Shanta runs an industry in a shed which is in the shape of a cuboid surmounted
by a half cylinder. If the base of the shed dimension 7m by 15 m, and if the area
of the four walls of the cuboid is 352 m2. Suppose the machinery in the shed
occupies a total space of 300 m3, and there are 20 workers, each of whom
occupy about 0.08m3 space on an average.

27. Prove that √5 is an irrational number. 3

28. Draw a circle of radius 3 cm. Take two points P and Q on one of its extended 3
diameter each at a distance of 7 cm from its center. Draw tangents to the circle
from these two points P and Q.

OR

Draw a circle with the help of bangle. Take a point outside the circle. Construct
the pair of tangents from this point to the circle.

29. Prove that the parallelogram circumscribing a circle is a rhombus. 3

30. One card is drawn from a well shuffled deck of 52 cards. Find the probability of 3
getting:

(i) A king of red colour


(ii) A face card
(iii) A spade.

OR

A bag contains 5 white balls, 7 red balls, 4 black balls and 2 blue balls. One ball
is drawn at random from the bag. What is the probability that the ball drawn is

34. A TV tower stands vertically on a bank of a canal. From a point on the other 5
bank directly opposite the tower, the angle of elevation of the top of the tower
is 60°. From another point 20 m away from this point on the line joining this
point to the foot of tower, the angle of elevation of the top of the tower is 30 .
Find the height of the tower and the width of the canal.

35. Prove: =cosec A + cot A 5

36. In an equilateral triangle ABC, D is a point on side BC such that BD = 1/3 BC. 5
Prove that 9 AD2 = 7 AB2

OR

In an equilateral triangle, prove that three times the square of one side is equal
to four times the square of one of its altitudes.
