1. Differentiate the following and a situation for each.

a. Strategy and tactics

Strategy is the action plan that takes you where you want to go, the tactics are the individual
steps and actions that will get you there. In a business context, this means the specific
actions teams take to implement the initiatives outlined in the strategy. In short strategy is
the intent while tactics is putting intent to action.

b. Entrepreneurial mode and adaptive mode

Entrepreneurial mode In this mode, strategy is made by one powerful individual and the
focus is on opportunities, problems are secondary. Strategy is guided by the founder’s own
vision of direction and exemplified by large, bold decisions. The dominant goal is growth of
the corporation while adaptive mode Sometimes referred to as “muddling through.” This
mode is characterized by reactive solutions to existing problems, rather than proactive
search for new opportunities. Much bargaining goes on concerning priorities of objectives.
Strategy is fragmented and is developed to move the corporation forward incrementally.

a.) Identify an institution you like, then describe the benefits of strategic management of that
particular institution.

- Education teacher education or teacher training refers to the policies, procedures, and
provision designed to equip teachers with the knowledge, attitudes, behaviours, approaches,
methodologies and skills they require to perform their tasks effectively in the classroom,
school, and wider community.

b.) Apart from the three roles of the Board of Directors as discussed, are there still some that
should have to be added which will speak for the additional roles of the Board of Directors.
Please elaborate.

- The board of directors' most important function is to approve or send back for amendment
management's recommendations about the future direction of the corporation. This function
usually receives minimal attention.

c.) Identify the key players in managing strategic directions. Please explain why they are key
players.

- It ensures owners and management can communicate the importance of employees work
and their contribution to achieving business objectives.

d.) Discuss the nature of strategic decision.

- Strategic decisions have major resource propositions for an organization. These decisions
may be concerned with possessing new resources, organizing others or reallocating others.
Strategic decisions deal with harmonizing organizational resource capabilities with the
threats and opportunities.
