SPORTS FESTIVAL 2022

CHEERDANCE COMPETITION GUIDELINES

The following rules & regulations are to be in effect for all practices and the competition
proper.

GENERAL RULES

1. Teams must have a minimum of 20 members which includes dancers, cheerers,


lifters, props personnel and musicians.
2. All teams must be supervised during the practices and competition by their
adviser/ or team leader. Saturday rehearsals/practice is only allowed if the
adviser/team manager is present in the practice.
3. Getting of choreographer is discouraged to lessen the fee of the students.
4. The routine parameters are
a. Cheers or yells - Cheers/chants must be yelled by the dancers live (not
pre-recorded).
b. Creative dance or  gimmickry - Creative dance is any dance performance
accompanied by pre-recorded music geared towards entertaining the audience
c. Cheer dance routine piece.
5. The order of the performance is:
First, the cheers or yells for not more than ONE (1) MINUTE.
Second, the creative dance or gimmickry.
Last, the cheer-dance routine piece.
***The evaluation of the cheer dance will not be judged as a stands-alone
element rather as part of the Overall Impression Category.
6. Each team will be allotted minimum of five (5) minutes and maximum of six (8)
minutes for the routine. Timer starts upon the first yell/cheer, dance movement,
start of music, or whichever comes first. (Excluding the entrance and exits)
7. Costumes must be their official team shirts and DIY for their lower part.
8. The following are prohibited at any point of the routine: liquids, flammable
materials, confetti, firecrackers/pyrotechnics and other similar dangerous or
hazardous props.
9. The team captains/advisers from the participating schools shall draw lots to
determine the sequence of rehearsal and actual performance.
10.Any team proven in violation of the rules & regulations will merit a five (5) point
deduction from the total score.
11.Judges decision is final and irrevocable.

STUNTS & PYRAMIDS

1. Stunts will be allowed to FIRST level only for safety reasons.


2. Tosses are strictly prohibited in the routine.
3. No Twisting Released Dismounts are allowed.
4. No dive roles for tumbling allowed, regardless of level. Standing Tumbling is
limited to one tumbling skill.
5. No Inversions are allowed.
6. Single leg stunt is strictly prohibited.
7. Pyramid-building is strictly prohibited.

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

A. CHEERS/YELL - 20pts

Voice Quality/ Clarity of Cheers 5PTS

Composition of Yells, Cheers and Musical Instruments 5PTS


Mastery/Synchronization 5PTS
Choreography 5PTS
TOTAL 20PTS

B. CREATIVE DANCE/GIMMICKRY & CHEER DANCE - 80 PTS


Dance techniques (degree of difficulty, variation of

movements, flexibility, gracefulness & originality)

Choreography & Technical Merit (movement,
