III. Procedure:

A. Review
Using flash cards, let the pupils identify the following as improper fraction or
mixed number.

B. Motivation

Present visually the concept of fraction using pieces of paper in addition.

C. Presentation

Present the problem;


Monica gave one-fourth sheet of paper to Danny, and also Monique have
given one-half of sheet of paper to Danny. How many sheet of paper did Danny
have in all?

D. Discussion

Visual presentation;

Divide the class in three groups and let them answer the following problems:
1. Johnny got ½ of hot cake from mama and ask another 1/3 of hot cake from her
sister. How many hot cake did Johnny have in all?

2. Father bought ½ kilo of rice and 4/5 kilo of corn. How many kilo did father have all
together?

3. Mary has ¾ slice of an apple and another 2/3 slice of an apple from her father.
How many slice of an apple she has in all?

G. Generalization
Lead the pupils to generalize the following:

IV. Evaluation
Read and understand the problem then solve:
Mitchell has 2/5 meter of ribbon and Sheens’s ribbon is ½ meter. How many meters of ribbon do
the girls have altogether?

V. Assignment
Read and solve:
Mrs Romero bought 12/16 kg of cabbage, 7/8 kg of carrots and ¼ kg of tomatoes. How many kg
of vegetables did Mrs Romero buy?
