I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:

a. identify the different composers and their works during the Classical Period;
b. listen attentively on the different recordings and works of the different
composers; and
c. present a 2 minute drama in a silent from using classical music.

B. Motivation

Before we start let’s have an activity first. The


activity called “WHAT IS MY IDENTITY”. In
this activity you are going to identify the artist
that describe in the corresponding questions.

1. He was a musical revolutionary, not just in the


obvious sense that his compositions took music
in a new direction. He was an artist imbued
with the idea of revolution.

What is Romanticism?

Romanticism was a trend that emphasized


both the delicate and stormy presentation of
sentiments or emotions and individualism

The subjects or art works promoted a variety of


distinguishing concepts, such as historical ambition,
supernatural elements, social justice and nature, with
a preference for the medieval over the classical.
Landscape painting was also made more popular
because of the romantic adoration of nature by the
inhabitants.

Let’s now discuss the distinct Characteristics of the


Romantic Period.

 Dramatic composition
 Heightened sensation (life and death

We have 3 forms of arts during this period, first is


painting. Here are some of the artists:

1. JEAN LOUIS THEODORE GERICULT (1791-


1824) FRANCE

Who is Jean Louis Theodore Gericault?

He was the first French master and the


leader of the French realistic school. His
masterpieces were energetic, powerful,
brilliantly colored, and tightly composed.

The Famous Artworks of Jean Louis Gericault are


the following:
 The Raft of the Medusa

The Raft of the Medusa portrays of a


contemporary shipwreck. The people on this
raft were French emigrants en route to West
Africa.

 Charging Chasseur
His first major work revealed the influence
of the style of Rubens and an interest in the
depiction of contemporary subject matter.

1. Theodore Rousseau

Romantic sculpture can be divided into

2. Jean-Bapstiste-Camille Corot
was best known for his social art which
aimed to inspire and capture the interest of a
broad public.

They were members of the Barbizon School (a circle


of artists who held meetings in the village of
Barbizon) that led the Romantic landscape painting in
France.

With the knowledge gained, you are going to write the things you learned about the arts of the
Romanticism period. Use the box below to express your idea.
V. Assignment

SOAP SCULPTURE
Direction: Follow along and learn how to make a soap sculpture.
INSTRUCTIONS:

Materials:

 bar of soap 
 pencil
 paper
 scissors
 plastic butter knife 
 paper clip
 paintbrush

Instructions:

1. First, place a bar of soap on a sheet of paper and trace its outline.
2. Within the outline on the paper, draw your design and cut it out.
3. Place the design on the bar of soap. Then, use a pencil to lightly carve the outline of your
design into the soap.
4. Use a plastic knife to remove large chunks of the soap and a paper clip to shave off
smaller pieces.
5. When you finish shaping the sculpture, use a pencil to carve details. 
6. Brush away any soap dust with a paintbrush.
7. Check out your soap sculpture!
