Recordemos brevemente que la oración condicional tiene dos partes o “clauses”.

La If-clause
debe ir en presente mientras que la otra parte o Result Clause debe ir en futuro.

No olvidéis que al conjugar un verbo en presente debemos tener muy en cuenta al sujeto, ya
que cuando éste es 3ª persona del singular, el verbo añade –s, -es, -ies en afirmativa, y en
negativa el auxiliar es doesn’t en vez de don’t. De igual forma debemos recordar que en
futuro usamos will/ ’ll o won’t junto al verbo principal…

En cuanto a la estructura de una oración condicional en interrogativa, recordad que sólo la


parte en futuro es la que sufre el cambio al preguntar:

E.g. What will you do if you win the contest?

If you win the contest, what will you do?

Ah, se me olvidaba, ¡cuidado con el verbo To Be!, ya que tiene su estructura particular de
presente.

También debes saber que en las oraciones condicionales podemos usar otra conjunción aparte de
IF. Esta conjunción es UNLESS y significa “a menos que”. Al igual que IF, la proposición o “clause”
que lleva UNLESS va también en presente en inglés. Sin embargo, cuando traducimos al español,
traducimos el verbo en Subjuntivo.
Eg. I won’t go to the party unless you invite me.
No iré a la fiesta a menos que me invites.

D. COMPLETE THESE CONDITIONAL SENTENCES USING IF OR UNLESS
