ABSTRACT
The aims of this study are (1) to determine the tensile strength of quasi-
isotropic laminates in the direction of arrangement of +45°, 0°, -45°. (2) To
determine the bending strength of quasi-isotropic laminates in the arrangement
direction of +45°, 0°, -45°. (3) To determine the tensile strength of quasi-isotropic
laminates in the arrangement direction of +60°, 0°, -60°. (4) To determine the
bending strength of quasi-isotropic laminates in the arrangement direction of +60°,
0°, -60°. 3.3.8. In this study, the fiber stacking directions were +45°, 0°, -45° and
+60°, 0°, -60°. Using a glass mold with a size of 145 mm x 75 mm x 2.5 mm and
the type of matrix used is polyester with a percentage of 98% resin and 2% catalyst.
The previously used coco fiber was subjected to alkalizing for 2 hours with a
concentration of 5% NaOH in 950 milliliters of water. The tests carried out are
standard tensile test ASTM D-3039, standard bending test ASTM D-790 three point
bending, fiber volume fraction: matrix is 30%:70%
The results of this study indicate the influence of the orientation angle of
coco fiber on the average tensile stress value of composites with a configuration of
quasi-isotropic laminates of coco fiber with the highest average tensile stress value
indicated by the direction of the fiber with an angle of +60°,0°-60 of 15.096 MPa
and the lowest average composite tensile stress value is indicated by the fiber
orientation of +45°,0°-45° which is 14.796 MPa. The highest average bending
stress value is indicated by the fiber orientation angle of +60°,0°, -60° of 59.793
iv
MPa and the lowest average bending stress value is found at the fiber angle of
+45°,0°, -45° of 30.256 Mpa .
