ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
This report has been prepared for the project that has been done in KAHAANIGHAR, Patna, Bihar to study
the practical aspect of the course MGN231 in the real field.

The aim of this project is to identify the issues related to community development and to find solutions for
improvement, to build creative thinking process and evolving behavioral changes in order to develop effective
problem-solving campaigns, developing skills to promote unique idea among public aiming to originate
substantial and sustainable development bringing in difference in the community at large and the ability to
deliver effective presentations and written report covering major issues and suggestions related to Project.

A great thanks and sincere gratitude to my project head, Mr. Rony Banerjee for helping me out and giving me
their valuable time during my project session and my project mentor, Mr. Ranjan Kumar for his great guideline.
Both people provided me with abundance of information and helpful feedbacks to ease our journey during the
project.

Next, I would like to thank all those people who are a member of KAHAANIGHAR for the hospitality that they
have given me a comfortable environment to work in and above all my parents for supporting me the whole
time I was involved into this project.
SUMMARY OF ACTIVITIES DONE

I still remember my first day of the project. Mr. Rony Banerjee

briefed me about what I had to do and who will be my mentor
for this project. The first task that I was assigned was to search
about what KAHAANIGHAR is and how it works. After that, I was
told to write a speech over it summarizing everything. After that,
I went to the North Park Road location near the KAHAANIGHAR
to take a base line survey of at least 50 households in the Urban
Unorganized Dwellings. The survey had some basic questions like
the number of dependents in the family, the household income,
whether someone in the family is suffering from any chronic
disease or not, whether there is any vulnerability factor in
someone’s health, whether they are availing the facilities being
provided by the government etc. The basic objective of this was
to get a demography of the people living there and how and
what can we do for them and their children.
After collecting all the data and completing the survey, I sort
them into different categories and made some graphs over it for
analyzing the data and tried to understand the living conditions
and problems they are facing.
I also taught mathematics to the children at KAHAANIGHAR.
ABOUT THE SURVEY AND THE RESEARCH

The base line survey done in the Urban Unorganized Dwellings

was not only to know that how many children go to school, but it
has a great scope on a large scale. The survey was done to get an
idea about the living condition of the different households, the
demography and the econometric condition of a particular area
having a population of underprivileged people and their family.
The survey questionnaire included some basic questions to know
about the income and expenditure of a family on a daily basis.
We got to know about the the family members, how many
dependents are there in each family, whether they are being
provided with the facilities given by government or not, whether
any family member is suffering from any chronic disease and if
yes, then what’s the vulnerability factor, what’s the source of
income, who’s earning it and how’s he or she is managing the
family needs in that amount etc.
After the survey was done, the research part initiated with a
great headstart. The first step was to note all the readings of
survey digitally on an excel sheet.

Conclusion and Possibility Ahead
While we underwent the research, we envisioned the maturity process in context of Kahaanighar. The process
indicated at an agent for Behavioural Changes amongst Deprived and Marginalized Segments through cultural pro-
activeness. Since the “quantum” and “efforts” that are required for bringing and enabling the proposed changes, are
very specific to the particular segment or community that we considered. The Colloquial culture and its existence
within the community have remained there since a long time. Changes that can be proposed shall come gradually,
with acceptance over a period of time.
Structured sessions that can be conducted for affecting the way of behaving, way of acting, incorporating etiquette,
desired actions and manners, shall first have to become ways which would mature into habits and finally established
as practice. The Change process would be rather developmental along with detectable nuances.
The first stage would be Adjustments, Advancement, development, differences and diversities. This has to be followed
with Innovation, Modification, reversal, revision and revolution. The next phase would lead to Transition with
Compression, Contraction, conversion, correction.
The final stage would be Modulation and Mutation.
The Methodology strives for implementing “Storytelling” as a Social instrument, where the Human to Human Interface
shall emerge as the device, apparatus, appliance, machine, mechanism and aid for the System.
The abilities and capabilities emerge by the experience. No thought processes are results of sophistication but always
an outpour of extended capabilities on account of experiences gained. Maturity of learning, participating and
practicing results in “knowledge” and when this knowledge gets transformed into wisdom, civilization advances.
Stories are built up!
The Life cycles of such contemplation, completion and cultivation of thoughts into the “fitness” and “fullness”
within majority of desired developmental processes, where change begin, mellows by the Story systems of the
community. While talking about perfection and full bloom attainment, the readiness for accepting to change
begins with Stories.
