The life of Hanna

McGowen and her
passion for
Cheerleading.

“Cheerleading has brought

me lots of enjoyment and
happiness.” - Hanna
McGowen
Cheer Adventure

Hanna was born in Maple Ridge and grew up in Port Coquitlam.

She has a brother, step-dad, dad, mom, and two dogs. She
attended BlakeBurn Elementary and Minnekhada Middle
School. She moved to Nanaimo at the beginning of summer in
2022 where she now attends Cedar Community Secondary
School. Her family originated in Ireland, Scotland, and Ukraine.
Hanna describes herself as energetic, hardworking and kind.

It all started at a football game when Hanna saw the

cheerleaders and loved the flips. She started at the age of six,
and never stopped cheerleading since after seeing the outfits,
the sparkles, and the flips, it inspired her to work
to be the best cheerleader she could be.

“I've always loved cheerleading, and I hope to get

better.”

Now Hanna is cheerleading for a team called

NDSS Cheerleading where she competes for
awards. The fashion and the athleticism lead to
Hanna’s love of cheerleading.
Hanna found cheerleading unique because of the teamwork
required to achieve stunts and flips. When she is cheerleading,
she feels happy, but then feels tired from all the stunts and flips
she did. To her, cheerleading is a fun and unique sport she can
do for happiness.

“Cheerleading is a sport I can do in my free time whenever I

want.”

One of her favorite parts

of cheerleading is stunting
because it's good exercise
for her. So those were some
things Hanna enjoys about
cheerleading.

Hanna is a great cheerleader who has achieved a lot. She has a

great family where everyone supports her in cheerleading. Right
now she is working on a challenge of doing a backflip. Her
biggest accomplishment as a cheerleader was winning first
place in a competition for the best stunts.

“I feel like I have accomplished a lot in cheerleading and it

makes me proud.”

The team Hanna is currently on right now is her dream team

and she is very happy about it. However, she does not want a
career out of cheerleading because it does now pay well
enough. As a result of her hard work, she accomplished a lot as
a cheerleader.

Hanna was initially attracted to the sport of cheerleading

because of the outfits and the athleticism. However, she stays
for the teamwork and benefits from her family support. After
what I’ve read about Hanna, I know she will beat any challenge
life throws her way thank you for reading.
