Friends of Allah vs.

The friends of Satan (This Dichtomy)

The core or beginning of this division or clash between Awliyah of Allah and
Awliyah of Shaytan(Satan) arose between Adam and Iblis, when Allah created
the first human being Adam

Describe the incident

Sahih International: And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate

before Adam"; so they prostrated, except for Iblees. He refused and was
arrogant and became of the disbelievers.

What cause you not to protracted?

Sahih International: He said, "I am better than him. You created me from
fire and created him from clay."

Chapter (2) sūrat l-baqarah (The Cow)

2:34
So here we can see that Iblis or Shaytan because of his arrogance, pride, conceit,
and jealous he did not what to submit to the human being who Allah had
created. So he became a disbeliever and and also curse

Allah says
4:11

Sahih International: Whom Allah has cursed. For he had said, "I will surely
take from among Your servants a specific portion.

Then he said

Sahih International: [Iblees] said, "By your might, I will surely mislead
them all

Pickthall: He said: Then, by Thy might, I surely will beguile them every one,

Yusuf Ali: (Iblis) said: "Then, by Thy power, I will put them all in the wrong,-

Shakir: He said: Then by Thy Might I will surely make them live an evil life,
all,

Sahih International: Except, among them, Your chosen servants."

So from these verses we can see the origin of the division of mankind into two
groups those who Shaytan will seduce to be his friends and those who will be
the friends of Allah.

2nd point

What does it take to be the Awliyah of Allah one most possesses two qualities
as mention in the Qur’an 62:63

Chapter (10) sūrat yūnus (Jonah)

Sahih International: Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be

no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve

Pickthall: Lo! verily the friends of Allah are (those) on whom fear (cometh)
not, nor do they grieve?

Sahih International: Those who believed and were fearing Allah

Pickthall: Those who believe and keep their duty (to Allah).

So these two qualities are Emaan(Faith in Allah) and Taqwa (have

high regard, conscience, aware, respect, fear being mindfulness of
Allah.)

Some in Islam don’t believe that Muslim can reach this status of a
friend of Allah. Only a Saint. But in the verse is says that if you Emaan
and Taqwa.
I think a majority of us have faith in Allah, but lack taqwa

We have to understand what taqwa is

Thorough understand of taqwa is to be mindful and aware of Allah and to be
fearful, timid to overstep the limits and boudaries of Allah. (Ex. driving to work
and staying in the speed limits)

Taqwa is the key to being a Awliyah of Allah

Allah says:

Sahih International: Their meat will not reach Allah , nor will their blood,
but what reaches Him is piety from you. Thus have We subjected them to you
that you may glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and give
good tidings to the doers of good.

Speaking about sacrifice reaches Allah but your taqwa

This verse shows that our taqwa mindfulness and awareness of Allah and
fearfulness and timidness to overstep the limits and boudaries of Allah is what
reaches or touches him

To further understand this conception of the Friends of Allah and the Friends of
Satan

We need to define the term Wilayah were the word Awliyah comes from
Wilayah
Love and closeness
To understand Wilayah we have to define what the opposite of
Wilayah is to further get comprehensive understanding
Adaawa
Hatred and distance
So it

The root word adaawa is connect to Shaytain.

35:6

Sahih International: Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so

take him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be among
the companions of the Blaze. Commad form take
Aduwun comes from the word Adawaa which means, to
show enmity, be at war and to act hostile show hatred
.
Allah also says:

2:208

Sahih International: O you who have believed, enter into Islam

completely [and perfectly] and do not follow the footsteps of
Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.

Mubin comes from the root word baana means clear, plain,
visible, evident, come to light.

So for the Awliyah of Allah it is clear that Shaytan is enemy to

mankind and those who are Awliyah of Shaytan and that we
most combat and contest Shaytan and his Awliyah friends or
minion.
Allah says
Chapter (4) sūrat l-nisāa (The Women)

Sahih International: Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah , and
those who disbelieve fight in the cause of Taghut. So fight against the allies
of Satan. Indeed, the plot of Satan has ever been weak

Allah wants us to fight the plots handiworks and Schemes of Satan and those
who propagate his schemes, plots.

Imam Mohammed says:

G-d doesn't tell us to go after Satan. That is not the way to find Satan. Satan
doesn’t have a sharp nose, white skin, blue eyes and yellow hair. Satan is not
red skinned with horns sticking out of his head. A picture won't take you to
Satan, unless it is a picture of his schemes.

That is the way you catch Satan; you put out his fires(meaning shemes, plots).
That is what Allah wants us to do. If we put out his fires, we put him out of business. That
is what Allah wants us to do to put Satan out of business.

what are the plots and schemes of Shaytan Allah says:

Sahih International: O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants,
gambling (games of chance), [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah],
and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that
you may be successful.

They have

5:91

Sahih International: Satan only wants to cause between you enmity and
hatred through intoxicants and gambling and to avert you from the
remembrance of Allah and from prayer. So will you not desist?

Intoxicants and Gambling or games of chances

Rolling dice(craps ceelo), playing lottery going to the casino, games of chance.

These causes marriage to end, friends to fight or even kill each other, steal
from each other, commit crimes (it becomes addictive)

Intoxicates (Khamara) means to cover Khamir( cover of the head)

Intoxicates anything that clouds your mind alter your thinking.

 First, THC the ingredient in Marijuana that intoxicates, stimulates brain cells to
release dopamine (dope men) which causes one to become intoxicated. Then, it
impairs one’s memory, disrupts one’s coordination, and alters one’s sensory
perceptions (thinking). Therefore, marijuana is definitely an intoxicant. Commands
us (So Allah says stay away from It) Because of the harm

Those who are the Awliya of Satan they are the ones that
promote these things.
When we look at our society today most of the
disfunction that we have in society we find it in the
schemes and plots of Shaytan .

‫ قَا َل َرسُول هَّللا ِ صلى هللا‬:‫ض َي هللاُ َع ْنهُ قَا َل‬ ِ ‫َع ْن َأبِي هُ َر ْي َرة َر‬
ُ‫ " َم ْن َعا َدى لِي َولِيًّا فَ ْقد آ َذ ْنته‬:‫إن هَّللا َ تَ َعالَى قَا َل‬ َّ ‫عليه و سلم‬
ُ‫ي ِم َّما ا ْفتَ َرضْ تُه‬ َّ َ‫ي َع ْب ِدي ِب َش ْي ٍء َأ َحبَّ إل‬ َّ َ‫َّب إل‬
َ ‫ َو َما تَقَر‬،‫ب‬ِ ْ‫ِب ْال َحر‬
‫ فَِإ َذا‬،ُ‫ي بِالنَّ َوافِ ِل َحتَّى ُأ ِحبَّه‬َّ َ‫ َواَل يَ َزا ُل َع ْب ِدي يَتَقَرَّبُ إل‬،‫َعلَ ْي ِه‬
ُ‫ َويَ َده‬،‫ْص ُر بِ ِه‬ ِ ‫ص َرهُ الَّ ِذي يُب‬ َ َ‫ َوب‬،‫َأحْ بَ ْبتُهُ ُك ْنت َس ْم َعهُ الَّ ِذي يَ ْس َم ُع ِب ِه‬
،ُ‫ َولَِئ ْن َسَألَنِي ُأَل ْع ِطيَنَّه‬،‫ َو ِرجْ لَهُ الَّتِي يَ ْم ِشي بِهَا‬،‫الَّتِي يَب ِْطشُ بِهَا‬
ُ‫" َولَِئ ْن ا ْستَ َعا َذنِي ُأَل ِعي َذنَّه‬. 
ِ ‫] َر َواهُ ْالبُخ‬
[ ُّ‫َاري‬
 
Al-Bukhari relates on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Prophet said, "Allah
'Whoever opposes an ally of Mine, I have declared war on him. My servant can
draw no nearer to Me, in what is dear to Me, than by what I have made
mandatory upon him. My servant will continue to draw near to Me by
exceeding his obligations, until I love him, until I am the ears with which he
hears and the eyes with which he sees, the hand with which he strikes and the
leg with which he walks. If he asks something of Me I shall grant it to him, and if
he seeks My Protection I shall protect him. I do not hesitate before anything but
to take the soul of a believer, for he dislikes death and I do not like for him to be
distressed'"

First we see from this hadith is that those who oppose

or have enmity with the Awliyah of Allah are at
opposition with Allah. Al Wali ( talk about Al Wali). Why
because Allah is the Wali of the Awliyah.
Then we can see more characteristics and qualities of
the Awliyah of Allah and how the Awliyah attain
closeness to Allah. (First the perform the mandatory
acts. This shows that for one to be a Awliyah of Allah he
must perform those Fard acts (mandatory) and staying
away from the Haram (forbidden things) This is the
minimum to classified as Awliyah
Then the Nafl (those act that exceed the mandatory
acts) The muslim that does the Nafl (those act that
exceed the mandatory acts) or one who goes above and
beyond.
This muslim has already demonstrate his willingness to
submit to Allah. But now goings above and beyond and
becauses of going the extra mile becomes more beloved
to Allah .
(Ex. If you have two friends and one helps you with your
mortgages but then you have another friend who helps
you with mortgages and also pays your utilities bills too.
The second friend will be more dear to you then the
other.) [also spending more time with Allah]
Then Allah says those who have reach this level
The Awliyah of Allah who has reached this closeness to
Allah. Allah becomes his hearing in which he hears, his
seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he
strikes and his foot with which he walks. And were he
to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him;
and were he to ask Me for refuge I would surely grant
him it.
The Awliyah of Allah that reaches this level has control
over his or her desire and whims and only desires those
things that Allah is pleased with.
When he looks, he looks for the sake of Allah; when he
speaks, he speaks for the sake of Allah; when he listens,
he listens for the sake of Allah. When he uses his hands,
he using them for the sake of Allah. And when he uses
he feet he uses them for the sake of Allah
So this hadith shows us the ultimate relationship of
friendship that a Muslim can have with Allah is having
Allah’s full protection in this life and the hereafter.
Takes your interest to heart

Sahih International: Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be

no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve

Pickthall: Lo! verily the friends of Allah are (those) on whom fear
(cometh) not, nor do they grieve?

Yusuf Ali: Behold! verily on the friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall
they grieve;

Chapter (10) sūrat yūnus (Jonah)

Sahih International: Those who believed and were fearing Allah

Sahih International: For them are good tidings in the worldly life and in
the Hereafter. No change is there in the words of Allah. That is what is the
great attainment.

Conclusion:
So for the New Year if we want attain a closeness and
intimate relationship with Allah we must have faith in
Allah and have a high regard for Allah and what he
wants for our life and what he doesn’t want for our life.
This resolution for the New year Insha’Allah we bring
bond with our lord and fortification for our lives.
So lets strive to be a Awliyah of Allah and not a Awliyah
of Satan.
