 Environmental Problems in Barangay Tigbao

 Water Pollution and Proper Waste Disposal

The sea water is very important to our community because almost of us depends on it to
continue to live on. Yet, the community didn't take a good care of it. The people continue to
throw the garbage on the sea especially to those who live on their own fishpen. The garbage
being not collected regularly is one of the reason why the people just simply throw their
garbages and/or waste to the sea and the other reason is that they are just simply lazy to
dispose it properly.
The collection of the garbage has become a big problem in brgy. tigbao because there are
almost no dump trucks that come to collect the garbages. The MRF of every Purok is not enough
for the garbage and collectors was very seldom to come to our barangay that's why the people
or the community use some another ways to get rid or the garbages like burning it which one of
the causes of climate change. Aside from burning the garbage, they also recycle and use a
compost pit for the biodegradable waste.

 Landslide
Soil erosion or landslide is also an environmental problem in brgy. tigbao because of the soft soil
and a strong source of water. Although there are some trees in our brgy., landslide cannot be
avoided because of the soft soil and there are strong sources of water in some are which causes
the land to be softer. There are trees or specifically coconut trees planted near the high way but
it was cut because it would be more dangerous for the bypassers if a landslide occur.

 Were the Environmental Laws implemented? How?

–Generally, the environmental laws were implemented especially about the endangered species. The
LGU implemented those environmental laws at our barangay but implementing those laws are not
enough. The people should be given examples like to give some real punishments to those who disobey
in order for the people to follow the laws. And I believe that the LGU in our own barangay isn't doing
enough their job because I can see through my own eyes that even them neglect to follow the laws.
