Miller, D. (2013) Climate Change and Other Human-Induced Impacts May Make a Mass

Extinction of Ocean Species Inevitable.

OVIC&xid=e2497f16. The author of this article is Debra Miller, a frequently writer that

have experience talking contamination and politics problems around the world. The title

of this article is « Climate Change and Other Human-Induced Impacts May Make a

Mass Extinction of Ocean Species Inevitable » and explains how the oceans are now at

high risk for ocean species because of the high level of contamination and the increase of

CO2 emissions. The author's standpoint is that the damage is irremediable, since

substances such as detergent, medicine, and personal care, have been found in the

Canadian Arctic Seas. She speaks about how the substances are absorbed by the ocean

and become tiny plastic particles that animals ingest. Debra write this article without

being biased and she bases her argument on data made by national organizations. I plan

to use this article to show how alarming are the results of all these investigations through

the years. Also, how the damage had not been stopped or tried to reduce by the

governments.

The EPA The United States Environmental Protection Agency. (2021, June 15). Marine Species

at Risk. US EPA. https://www.epa.gov/salish-sea/marine-species-risk. The United States

Environmental Agency published this article to show how pollution and climate change

are making a lot of species designated as at-risk. The agency takes an example of how are

the marine species are affected in the Salish Sea. The article explains in detail the little

care taken with this ecosystem and how since 2002 this place has been decreasing in

marine population thus it would be close to extinction in a few years. The article specifies

the animals that are at risk or non-at risk by the years 2016, 2014, and 2011, so visually

you can compare the numbers. Additionally, this article helps you with the scientific

terminology that it can be found through all the text. I will use this article as a good

database to show facts and support my thesis point and conclusions.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Dahlmann, L., & Lindsey, R. (2020, August

heat-content. The authors Dahlmann and Lindsey are experienced in writing scientific

articles for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration website. Because of

previous subjects about contamination or climate change they are unbiased even though

the article is listing the problems. The article shows how the heat in the ocean still

changing and lately have been a great increase. The authors show the results of

investigations with graphics like a line graph or a world map that color the heat. Through

the article, it can be read a section named “highlights” that shows alarming results of

investigations and consequences. I will use this article to add information about why the

ocean is increasing its temperature and what are the consequences for animals and

humans.
